I can't agree more. I'm a bit worried they might try something like that, and given the hype overload with this update, it would cause so many problems that any benefit would be negligible.
yeah, 0.19 is a high pressure chamber filled with hype, and any sort of excitement (fake update release) would just make everyone excited (hype train into space), then sad (train crashing), then angry at the dev who released the fake announcement
Like what MrSmash said, I don't think a fake update announcement would ever be a good idea. Everyone would expect to find the Vivace in-game, but then when they realized the update was an April Fools prank, everyone is going to be disappointed and be mad at the devs, and it would possibly even tarnish the game's entire reputation. Remember what happened with @Blijo's Fintray?
Also, I did the math on the maps and vehicles, and if you were to write down a list of them at a rate of two per minute, it would take you more than a day to note it all down. Configs? Over 52 days.
IMO I would really like an april fools on beamng . Obviously a fake update release wouldn't be really funny but I have no doubt on the devs imagination to make something funny . And we should not forgot that it's not guaranteed that the devs are gonna do a april fools joke
We all know, and it was a lot of fun for a while. But sadly, some people can't take a positive, non harming joke and report it and leave not very kind "reviews". Last one was a week ago... One-star, telling me that I was giving them false hope and telling the moderators that deleting his reports! Was a harm of their freedom of expression... Talk about overreacting... Personally, I still think that an April fools joke is a lot of fun as long as it does not harm anyone. (I wanted to release the duck) Jokes that are purely to mock other people is a different story. But with the amount of negative reactions, we decided not to do anything tomorrow... And the same goes for BeamNG. I would laugh my ass off if they released an update which adds some kind of joke or a devblog with a completely made-up "physics" update like a blogpost about the implementation of fatigue effects etc. But not everyone does and that means that we won't have any April fools jokes I think. At least not on the repo from my side.
Im more than open to the idea of Aprils Fools updates like they did with minecraft a few years ago. Remember Minecraft 2.0 with the exploding furnaces and Blue Redstone? Im sure the devs can put something together just to mess with us and celebrate April's Fools
If the developers did that, I'd suspect a number of people would be frustrated that they had time to make a joke update and had not released the hyped real deal.
Agreed; you would have people saying, “hOW cOme YoU cAn MakE ThIs DuMB JOkE buT NOt FINisH tHe UpDatE??!!!111,!” and that’ll just erupt into a big sad
Found something interesting in the editor: It seems to be an object that allows you to spawn/park vehicles. There are numerous types, and due to their names I assume they're for career mode. My guesses as to what each of these are for: DealerDelivery - Place for ordered/delivered cars, either at the dealership or at the garage? DealerDisplayDrivable - Vehicles on display at a dealership that the player can drive, maybe some sort of a "test drive" functionality? DealerDisplayUndrivable - Vehicles on display at a dealership that the player cannot drive under any circumstances? DealerParking- Parking spaces at car dealers? GarageParking- Parking spaces to access garages, or garages themselves? PublicParking - Public parking spaces, possibly for shops and such? These are not what is present on Utah. Utah instead has "Gameplay Areas", as seen here: It is unknown how they compare to Parking Spaces (even though they are placed where one would assume a Parking Space would go) or if they are a predecessor to the Parking Space system.
There were actually some April Fools' Day posts a few years back. This is probably the closest we'll get to anything April Fools' Day related, if we get anything at all (all of these posts are from 2016, with nothing from any years since). I highly doubt there will be anything like an April Fools' update. Reminds me of a certain someone I know... but I'm too busy killing car culture to remember his name.
I did also when I first saw that. Iirc the effect was caused by changing the physics calculations per second, and it basically broke the game.
The two things that stuck out to me are the nine vehicles in one picture. Granted, it could have been super laggy and just for the point of a nice picture, but I hope there is some increase in core scaling with many vehicles. The second thing I noticed was the pessima with the open hood. That's a new feature. Edit: just realized they are at a gas station. Refueling is probably implemented.
