Hello there! First of all, no, this is not an April Fools joke. As many of you know, in 2017, I introduced the notorious Ibishu Blackfoot, a vague recreation of the 1984-1996 Jeep Cherokee 'XJ'. Since then, I've promised to make a no-compromise follow-up, touted as 'Blackfoot V2', which was to be the ultimate edition of the XJL74 platform. However, as duty called, and school robbed me of my time, a lack of skill, motivation and resources meant that the update never came. In between the Blackfoot and now, I spawned an unspoken experimental vehicle called the Archer Phoenix, which was a Jeep Comanche, used to test various powertrain, texture, Jbeam and performance characteristics. In truth it never really amounted to anything, but it was a great test of what I can do when I try. It also features a working saving odometer and a re-settable trip meter. That, and proper shift-on-the-fly 4WD with both Command-Trac and Selec-Trac cases. Naturally, you can switch between these selections, back and forth, in the correct pattern, using T and G. No more annoying transfer case buttons like on the Blackfoot - just the press of a key, and you're in 4WD. After that, there was yet another project that made even less progress. This was called the Prime Pioneer, and was supposed to be a mish-mash of several different 4x4s, like the Cherokee, 90-series Land Cruiser, as well as the Nissan Terrano. The Pioneer is on the right of the Phoenix here. Beside it is a Suzuki SJ chassis, also never finished. In June 2019, a friend from Germany spotted an old XJ 4.0 Limited, and its paint was in perfect (matted) condition to do a photoscan. Said photoscan kick-started the Cherokee project back into gear, and I set about learning to model around it during that summer. But, as the school term returned and mock GCSEs on the horizon, I was left with no time or motivation to make it happen. That is, of course, until now. As bad as this global situation is right now, and as scary yet boring life is at the moment, there is still hope - because on the 20th March, all schools across the UK closed - meaning I've been left with what is essentially a 12-week holiday. 12 weeks of time to make something great. And here's the ultimate goal: Cherokee, Comanche, (XJ) Wagoneer, inch-perfect, with... Realistic weights, performance, dynamics and driving behaviour All models and trim levels All colours and paint schemes All regions and territories, including RHD and LHD All factory and dealer parts and accessories All special editions Every possible function functional - this includes moving gear and transfer case levers, radios, overhead consoles etc And so I invite all of you to join in on this epic journey to create one of the most detailed and accurate vehicle mods ever made, over at the Stuffed Crust Discord community: Regular updates on the car will be posted there, more often than on this thread You can ask questions and make suggestions about the mod as it's being made If you own an XJ-body Cherokee, Wagoneer or Comanche built between 1983 and 2001, you're strongly encouraged to join and provide your thoughts and personal opinion about the car as it's being made. Owners who are willing to provide reference photos, measurements and other details will have their own personal Jeep(s) created in the game as a thank you (as your car/build progresses, your version will be modified to match) At a time when many of us around the world are stuck indoors, this is an opportunity to have some fun and bring your Jeep into this virtual world, simply by going out to your garage or driveway, or even just by sharing stories and knowhow. Either way, by the end, you'll be able to take your car for a spin without leaving your seat! This will not be a repository-friendly or lore-friendly car in any way, but will simply remain here on the forums. It might end up using a similar system to SergentFido's Olds Fullsize mod, with core updates on the repo but the main mod here on the thread. Anyway, here it is right now: This is gonna be a long ride for all of us. But we can be rest assured that by the end, we'll have something properly awesome. Thank you!
If you mean 2-door and 4-door, then yes, absolutely. There will also be 5ft and 7ft beds for the Comanche version, and the extended wheelbase Beijing-Jeep Cherokee. When it's finished.
Of course, my dad has one lol. As for videos chances are I've seen most of them already, that one included. Also no, some did come with rear headrests but mostly only in export markets. Our Orvis does:
Hopefully not. All models are going to be made in as-new condition but those with personal builds will be able to have rust added to their version to match their real car, if they want.
The XJ, my first real "nice Car" It was a 94, four door 2wd. But it had the I6 with the 5 speed. The fact that the cherokee was offered with so many engine options will make for a detailed config roster. Every thing from the Iron Duke 4 and the gm 2.8 v6 to the renault diesel and the legendary Powertech I6. I'll be keeping an eye on this.
Can't wait for this to come out. I bought my 94 XJ last year and I loved the blackfoot mod, but it was definitely lacking. This seems very promising. I would love to help with any measurements or anything you may need.
Never. This looks very good, finally glad to see a spiritual successor to the Blackfoot. Hey @atomspeed123, I have a question for you. Will there be an aftermarket V8 engine option and a proper off-road configuration (something that the original Blackfoot lacked, and it's a Jeep, so of course it needs one )?
Of course there will! I must say, this mod probably won't be released until it's up to scratch, and that means when the XJ and MJ are all finished, and at least some off road bits and custom parts are in there. Obviously more parts will be added through updates and addons after release.
