BeamNG: Releases Small Island remaster teaser Me: It's great that Small Island finally gets signs of human existence! Looking forward to the next update!
That's a Torque3D thing. I'd be surprised to see that fixed in an update anytime soon. Also that's an intake grill not the bumper it's self, it's because it's a texture and not a full mesh to save on resources and geometry, it's a simple flat plane/polygon with a texture of a grill using transparent holes and trickery. The windshield has similar use of transparent textures, but is less distracting outside of nighttime lighting scenarios usually. T3D tends to muck things up with transparent materials quite a bit. Always has and maybe one day will no longer. But I'd expect that'd be a hard one to solve.
Small Island is 1.6 miles in area - or 2048x2048 - just like ECA/WCA/Utah/JRI/Automation. I can't really blame you for thinking that it's the size of Industrial/Port/Derby Arenas; in its current state, it feels really tiny. Also really glad to be seeing Small Island getting updated - that old map's needed an update for years now.
That in game measurement is incorrect. Small Island is the same size as Industrial Site and Port. By driving alongside one side corner to corner (tested in Small Island by removing water), it is roughly 1120 yards, a little over 1km. I got the same measurements on Industrial Site (Port would be the same due to the fact that it shares the same terrain as IS). Derby Arenas is smaller, at roughly 670 yards across. --- Post updated --- Just tested it again, with pictures for reference: Small Island: (Water removed to show exact edges of terrain). Roughly 1x1 km, or 1/4 the size of ECA/Utah. Industrial Site/Port: Roughly 1x1 km, or 1/4 the size of ECA/Utah. Derby Arenas: (Background removed to show exact edges of terrain) So yeah, Small Island, and Port/Industrial Site are really small. Heck, if you added them all together it would still be smaller than ECA or Utah.
at this point we will just wait for a d-series implementation in half life alyx (great game, play it, yes it will give you nightmares), i'm sure that beamNG supports VR. anyway, back on topic, i think that quite surely industrial will get a revamp
oh, you're right. i think that the game supported it many years ago, or i'm just immagining but i remeber reading that the devs recived an oculus rift developer kit
yes but it will be substantially different from the old render. It's been stated that the LeGran already is the k-car in the game: it (and if) will be a coupe.
