    That sucks..

Why not release the saving features as a separate ui app mod? people who knows how it works and still wants to deal with that could download it. its optional.

Yep was just about to report this as a bug.

Ruined the game for me, I've been playing since 2014 and I can't do banger racing on the game now because it makes repairing the cars 10 times harder.

I will no longer be playing again until this is put back into the game, shame on you developers for being so stupid.

Kinda ridicoulous to remove a feature of the game. ALL OF US DERBY MOD users used it all the time and its what made the game more fun to save the overall condition of the body.

I'm in agreement with many on here that the save option for the deformation of vehicles is a very missed option. As stated before, why get rid of the save option while a load option is still available?

I like the idea of this becoming a separate mod for those who know how to use it and what to expect. It won't apply to the game as a whole but people who use it will still have the opportunity to be able to use it...

maybe consider open source git project? If one doesn't have much time maybe someone could come in and attempt to keep up with the maintenance of it and possible additions?

Yeah this will definetly help your cause...

To stay on topic, I've never used the save function, but now knowing how it works, it makes me want to see it come back one day, even as an experimental feature.

I agree the save option was nice. Would love to see it again. Also it's more buggy now. It won't go into the cars view on scenarios. It's in the sky view.

It sucks the save feature is gone. I used it quite often and NEVER had a problem with it. Also, after the new update, the game has turned into a buggy deplorable mess even after clearing cache several times and verifying integrity.

Can you please elaborate the second part?
What issues are you having with the game?

Please make a separate thread for it and and link it so that I can try to help you.

I'm indifferent about having this feature removed from the game, as I've never really had any reason to use it. I agree with Estama that this feature seemed more like a fun experiment for, predominantly, roleplayers or derby events or such things, as opposed to a practical game feature which will be used in the core gameplay, i.e. during campaigns or in career mode.

I can also see pretty clearly why it would be hard to keep track of among the many physics improvements which are beneficial to the way the game is meant to be played, and I'm sure updates would take quite a bit longer to release because this saving feature would need to be tested several times to make sure it doesn't conflict with these important physics core fixes. It seems rather counterproductive to maintain features like this while the physics core is still in need of many improvements.

Vehicle saving is absolutely essential for career mode, unless you're happy with disposable vehicles, and no need for long-term vehicle preservation.
If not this, then what IS a "practical game feature", other than things related to most basic playability (UI, settings, device support, etc...)?
It's a video game, and most features are bound to exist purely to add to the entertainment value.
Oh no, guess I'm playing the game wrong then :(
So, I'm meant to just enjoy the ever-so-entertaining scenarios and campaigns, and the rest is just useless, experimental roleplay, right? :D
Yes, it might be better in the long-term, but the game is publicly on sale, so it is very important to be entertaining NOW as well - not everyone is going to be here forever, happy to wait until the game is complete, especially after it has been on sale for almost 7 years now, and it doesn't appear to be any closer to completion than it was at the beginning.
While it has definitely improved a LOT, it has also scaled up a lot, where the expectations are far beyond a basic banger/derby game now, so just like at the beginning, I'd still expect a few years to completion
Obviously, I can't speak for how much extra work this actually could take, but as with the amount of work needed to clean up and package every publicly released update, it's surely worth it, to keep the players entertained, which is exactly what the developers should be doing, as most people paid for a fun physics sandbox to mess about in, and not to be software testers.

Any news on what's happening then because it's all been kicking off on Facebook on the Derby groups. There's even people complaining on the banger racing forums and Facebook groups too.

We all thought this was the future, but without this feature it completely ruins the game for all of us.

I'd have a realistic guess and say this has affected around 900 - 1000 people. That's an awful lot when you think about it.

What makes matters worse is we're forced to have this new version, why can't we just have 0.18 back too?

I understand that keeping a vehicle's specific state, whether that includes panel damage or internal wear, is something that will be needed in career mode. But this specific feature, the ability to manually save vehicle damage and subsequently reload it whenever you'd like, just because it's a "video game", is not.

I said physics improvements are more important than up-keeping features that depend heavily on the physics core. The whole game revolves around the soft-body physics, so clearly, that should be at the forefront of the game's development. Also, free roaming isn't "just useless, experimental roleplay," it's as important a game mode as the campaigns and scenarios, granting the player the ability to drive around in any vehicle, on any road, in any map, and just have a relaxing Sunday drive. If the game was just the missions and races with specific vehicles and closed circuits, then you might as well be playing some other racing game.

So what's stopping the game from being fun without this feature? There's already the scenarios as a preliminary gameplay element, there's virtually unbounded customization of any vehicle of your choice, and there are many ways to tear up those cars using the world around you, or by such means as props or other vehicles. Then there are the many features that are just as "essential" as vehicle saving: teleportation, instant vehicle recovery, the node grabber, the app that lets you spontaneously set a vehicle on fire or separate all its parts with the click of a button. You can change the gravity, wind speed, time of day, level of fog, amount of clouds. There are plenty of things already that let you have "god-mode", and the only difference is that all of these other features are not nearly as affected by physics simulation improvements and fixes as the manual vehicle save-state button.
