Although CVTs are much less common for french cars than japanese cars, they are offered or have been offered in several Renault like the Mégane, the Clio, the Scenic or the Kadjar.

It was sometimes in combination with Nissan engines.

    Hi there!

Back to the weight subject, I've found out, that its not the car chassis that has too much weight, but the exterior panels, that don't contribute to structural integrity are overweight.
For example the "plastic" side skirts weighing almost 10 kgs each (!), hood over 20 kg (when modern cars use aluminium should be much less), trunk 30 kgs+ (even with the internal stucture and electrics, is still bit a too much), "plastic" underbelly cover 10 kgs+, fenders over 10 kg-s, again overweight (some manufacturers use plastic or aluminium), also the plastic bumpers could be made lighter as well.
Interior: frontal seats over 30 Kgs each (Basic 110 Tograc, no massage, or heated seats), should be much less about half as modern car seat are usually made of aluminium structure.

Little reading, how weight savings are achieved.
Not only VW uses these practices.

We can't make parts as light as we want because you need a certain weight/spring ratio for the physics to work.
Parts that are too heavy compared to real life are compensated by other parts that are lighter than in real life to end up at a realistic overall weight. :)

After driving Cherrier FCV cars quite a lot I found a few issues apart from the already mentioned issues with ESC and fog lights :

    - Sometimes when I slow down gradually to stop and then re-accelerate with the DCT, the engine revs but the car doesn't move for one or two seconds as if the car was in neutral.

    - The traction seems to be un-realistically good.
Indeed if, for example, I floor from standstill the Vivace S 270 (which is FWD) with the ESC off the tires don't slip at all on asphalt roads.
Even a base FWD Sunburst or any other FWD car I drove in real life slip under hard acceleration from a stop on dry road, even with good tires.

    - Door mirrors are a bit loose and shake quite a bit while driving. Or is it a bit of humour about french car build quality?

Apart from this few problems the FCV are very well modeled and the work from the devs on this car is very impressive.

this happens with all dct cars in beam. sometimes the transmission gets confused and never downshifts to first gear. when you try to drive from 2nd gear, it just revs in neutral before it shifts to first and takes off. this can also happen when reversing and trying to drive forwards again (and vice versa)

Can you provide a video with an easy way to reproduce so that I can look into fixing that?

The FWD cars make heavy use of the boost per gear ratio, you're not even close to getting the full power in the first one/two gears.

Here is the video, as you can see it happens two times on four stops.
It seems that the slope is very important.

I use the Tograc 150dQ DCT completely stock.

I've had this issue as well. What it seems to be is that the car doesn't downshift. Say you slow from 50kph and the car was in 3rd gear before you decelerated, the car will take a second to realize that it needs to downshift, and often times, it won't do so until you let go of and then reapply the throttle.

Doesn't FCV mean "French Compact Vehicle"?

It would be some internal name code. 'french' isnt likely, but maybe "front engined", or "front wheel drive"
it would also likely be something in french.

'French compact vehicle' in french would be 'véhicule compact français', which rearranged could be shortened to FCV.
'Front engined compact vehicle' and 'Front wheel drive compact vehicle' would be 'véhicule compact à moteur avant' and 'véhicule compact à traction avant' respectfully.
So yeah, i would agree with Pixeaudi more on this although i prefer calling it the b a u g u e t t e( i know this is useless info but i had to do it)

the thing is, why would cherrier, a french car manufacturer, specify that their car platform is french?

Thanks for the reply, then an overall smaller around 10% weight reduction, would get the whole package in line. :)
Also, tried the top speed of the basic Tograc 110, reaching over 200 km/h, bit too optimistic for hatchback with 110 hp.

Again, we are happy with the weight, it's exactly where it should be for the given car. Even the individual part weights are much nicer than on previous cars.

not to be that kind of guy or anything...but with the amount of times the dev has said "its fine" should you just let this go?

I don't know what the name means but it reminded me of a hydrogen/fuel cell vehicle name at first

It's probably doing something similar to Acura's Agile Handling Assist by slowing the inside rear wheel.

Same. I thought it was going to be like the Honda Clarity FCV :)

    Am I the only one?

There seems to be no big difference between semi race brake pads and Full racing brake pads.
When ABS is involved, race brake set it stops slower than the R-sport brake + semi pad...

Left side R-Sport brake and semi-race pad
    Medium Full-Race Brake and Pad
On the right is the basic brake and pad.

    1. The race brakes have their full power at Around 400 Degrees Celsius
    2. The race cars dont have ABS and the race brakes arent supposed to be used with ABS
