The TimeOfDay is locked if the level does not have a 'ToD' object, which is what controls it.

So you have to add the ToD object in the Scene tree. Where is that scene tree again? :D

    In the new editor (f10)

You will have to save the level to keep your changes. Usually not recommended if the level is an official one.

If he saves it in the level and gives it it's own unique name when he saves it (example-- East Coast USA, winter morning), it will create that name in his .json file within the new 'east coast' file that will get nested automatically in his Documents folder. So long as he does this, and the game knows to keep the docs folder separate from the program folders, there is no risk to default maps by making new ones with time of day changes. Or any other changes for that matter.

I haven't used the F10 new editor yet, but I use the F11 old editor with regularity, and once you know your way around the tree, it's pretty easy to add TOD access.

For example-- Automation New Zealand... bugs the every loving crap out of me that it's stuck at 12 noon with the sun 45° up due north. It's nice to be able to change those parameters.
