I gotta admit, the Ascent interior does look a little dated. But it still has a lot of nice materials and doesn't look cheap.
    And this:

Maybe it's just me, but I like this interior.

I don't. Personally not my cup of tea, but i can see the appeal. Fortunately we don't have many electric stations here, so no evs for at least 3 years here.

Not a big fan of them. Especially Tesla.

Because I never really cared for any engine noise of the cars I actually can afford, and like low-end torque.

I don't like them, but i don't hate them either. For non-car guys it really doesn't matter if it's boring or not. Tesla model 3 sells like hotcakes.

In Poland, the 3 is more expensive, and I don't care much for being different.

FYI Tesla Model 3 was the 6th best selling car in Usa in 2019. This proabably means something to you doesn't it? It shows people don't give 2 shits even if it doesn't have sound or is just boring. People buy it.

Not if they're like Geoff from Top Gear. I would love to buy an electric car that only does 10 miles an hour and dies often, so I can laugh at it.

Mazda 3 and Golf have roughly the same price here, but Mazda, as I said, would always be my choice. Interestingly, Golf Diesel is slightly cheaper than petrol one.

    Personal taste.

Why do you like what you like? Why should I or anyone else have to justify their enjoyment of something for random strangers on the internet?

    I wouldn't.

I'm the perfectionist type, currently getting annoyed by the earbud plug not fitting right into my new tablet's socket.

I think EVs do have a place. The Model 3 apparently has a very good chassis and is one of the fastest things that you can buy in its price class in terms of usable performance. Also, unless you’re driving your daily at 6+/10 (which, let’s face it, you’re not) the silence that the powertrain provides can be a positive. I honestly wouldn’t hate it if my F150 was electric, as the 302 it has is distant, meager sounding at times, and is used for torque. The 302 in a Mustang is fun, but in utility vehicles and family vehicles its not entirely needed. In a family car, it makes it sooo much cheaper to run, and when the torque comes in low down, it makes it more “usably fast.”

The downside of all this is that it becomes impossible to service it reasonably. This is the worst part of advancing technology: it gradually comes out of the mechanical ability of the masses to fix, quashing right to repair and driving up service costs.

There’s no “right” answer as to the balance between ICE and electric powertrains, but the advance of technology is more or less inevitable. We might see more mild hybrids, or electric vehicles, or variable compression engines, and it’s impossible to tell.

Disappointed in myself. I only got a couple half decent slides on camera.
I had a pretty hard time controlling this Optima. It seemed like I either gave too much throttle and counter steered too aggressively, ending the slide and straightening the car out, or didn't counter steer quick enough and spun it around.
I don't know if it was me or the car. Seems like I've had better luck sliding other Optimas.
The slides at the end of the vid in the dark are embarrassing. I was going way too slow for such a wide road.
