How do you clear the cache? The option is not there anymore.
Would mods that are installed but deactivated affect loading?

The "Clear Cache" option is still there. It's just they nested it below the first level within "Support Tools". My guess is, they were trying to streamline the 1st level in... by making the choices only 3 items deep. Then you get into the 2nd level within, and the choices are 6 items deep. So there they all are!

The "Clear Cash" option is also available... it's called an ATM Machine. (That's a real problem come the weekend!)

The answer to the second question I believe is NO. If they're deactivated, I believe it's as though they aren't there. They're just in the queue, laying in wait. So they should not have any negative effect on game loading times. Only after they are activated, do you need to concern yourself with the maximum number you should have at the same time. (I think.)

So I was wondering if it would be possible to make a roane county lite? Like, with less props and foliage, for those of us with inferior pc's

I have the same specs as you and I can still get a solid 60 fps (capped 50 though) with shader set to low and textures at medium so I think for how big it is very potato friendly

The map is just too big. I don't think a potato version would be possible.

Ah Bob, you got Roane up and running again. That's great. Last time I was here, I drove on the sidewalks of Kingston, to avoid falling into the water below. I figured you just had to fix a few things, so I patiently went over to So Cal map and hung out over there for a few weeks.

Hadn't come back to Roane, TN until tonight, and wow.. it's up and running right again. That's great and it looks really good. Around when did you finalize it and get it fixed to what I'm seeing now?

um so I have a problem with the map, I had saw it was broken and so I left it alone for a month or 2. Then I saw you had recently fixed it, so I loaded it in. Whenever I loaded in... everything was underwater, I couldn't tweak the environment settings, and I obviously couldn't see crap. So I need your help with this problem and to know if it is on my end or the it Is the mod. Here is a video I took of it, if it helps. Please help, and thank you for working so hard on the map for everbody.

Hold up, I think I just had to update it...

I think the probelm is that you haven't updated the mod because this was kind of a problem one version ago. Try updating all of your mods, the game and maybe even clear cache (if you know how to) and then you should be fine. :D.

I know this map is supposed to be a remade replica of Roane County but you should totally add a big camping area. Sort of like the one on Utah map

Well there's plenty of places he could put such a thing... the question is, does that place exist in that location in real life? Where are the camp grounds in Roane County, TN? Heaven knows there's tons of water, lakes, streams, etc. there. Perfect place for a campground I would think.

If I had to pick two general locations that might be plausible, I'd say the southeast corner of the map, or the north edge by the dirt off-road area.

Another important thing to consider, is that Bob Blunderton did specifically say that he was going to lay off updating Roane County, TN any further, while he concentrates more of his near-future efforts on "Los Injurus (City Of)"

Cool. I found it on Google Maps. SE of Rockwood, near the large lakes. That's about where I pictured something the OP could do with it. I had made an overlay map of the street names on an overhead view looking down at the map. Would be interesting to see exactly where the real campground sits in relation to the OP's street and road placement.

I know his road vectors in his map are very accurate, the land class and specific items off to the sides of the roads? ... well he can't possibly include everything... that is unless he chooses to make those changes. Agreed, it would be nice to see the campground represented. Maybe someday.

I try to change virutal memory, i reinstall game, i have updated all drivers and nothing helps, so any help with this ? it happen to most custom maps

Try running this map or Los Injurus map with only those maps in the mods folder, remove other mods. Incompatible mods and those from older game versions can cause issues just like this. This map and Los Injurus work in both 0.19.x and 0.20.x.
Well, I would re-download the game again, and re-download the offending mods if that still does not help.
Something is clearly wrong. If you still cannot figure out what's wrong, please post in the tech support or help section of this beamng forum please.
You will want to make a zip file of your beamng.log, beamng2.log, and beamng3.log and keep them handy for tech support.

I have no clue why it wants 17.6 EXABYTES of memory (or exabits, not sure, it says MiB not MB), but even my most recent machine doesn't have quite that much.

You have a very competent gaming computer, it should run anything you throw at it with decent or better graphic details for years to come (only the newest games will want more video memory than a 1660Ti has, and only then when the highest texture / model detail settings are used).

Would it eventually be possible to make a "lite" version? like with lower texture resolution, less buildings and maybe just bits removed?

    Kind regards

I cannot make a 'lite' version unfortunately.
You CAN however, give me your system model number (if it's a prebuilt OEM machine, like Dell, HP-Compaq, Gateway2000, Packard Bell, Amiga, Atari, Emachine, Lenovo, and so-forth). Try to list some extra details like what processor you have (if you know, even if it is just 'it says core i7 and it's a 5 year-old laptop').
If it's a custom build machine, let me know what video card (and video memory if you know), CPU, amount of system RAM 'memory', and whether or not the system has an SSD or a hard drive. If you have a hard drive, this map could take up to FIVE MINUTES to load unfortunately, so give it time even if it says it's not responding. If it gets stuck on loading the map, and it won't go anywhere even if you left it like that for an hour, then let me know what part of loading it got stuck on in the loading screen.
This information can help me out when I try to tell you what options to change in the game to make it run better.
Find some spots where it is slow-ish in the map (if you can load it), hit CTRL+F and tell me what the WAIT FOR GPU number is saving (you can give me an average, per location on the map, you can take screen shots with ALT+O if needed to show me where you are on the map). This will help me see which part of the map you're having trouble with.
If you purchased your machine pre-built online, and still have a link to the product page, share the link with me so I may get the system configuration myself (so you don't have to).

    Examples:
If you have an older processor, or a very inexpensive value-oriented newer processor, you'll want to turn off REFLECTIONS completely, and then turn off SHADOWS or set them to 'player only' (usually player only option is perfectly fine). Both of these things will DRASTICALLY lower processor usage, especially where performance can get rather dicey in down-town Harriman (where the 'default spawn' is located), and parts of Kingston (where WORST-BUY is located).
If you have integrated video, please set TEXTURE DETAIL to low or lowest, very few integrated video configurations can run 'MEDIUM' especially on my maps - but some recent AMD RYZEN VEGA-class APU's (CPU + decent integrated graphics = APU, though most processors come with some form of it on intel chips, some AMD chips marketed towards OEM's and budget markets have integrated video but not all). Texture detail levels affect how much in megabytes the game needs to keep loaded on the video rendering hardware to keep the FPS up. Usually you don't need to mess with MESH DETAIL in my maps, it's going to look best left alone or at max.
Turning off SSAO can give benefit to borderline outdated video cards such as my old trusty-but-quite-rusty Radeon HD 7850 2gb I use as a back-up (which still works!), and a Geforce 750 Ti 1gb or 2gb model. Soft Shadow Ambient Occlusion is a lot of weight for the video card to carry, but it sure looks nice - but having it off is better than a slide show on any day, so turn off Ambient Occlusion if you have a cheaper system or it's just 'old'.

Hopefully some of the information you can give, can help me help you (if that makes any sense).

Also, for sake of getting this out of the way, you may have better luck running Los Injurus than Roane County, as it's more optimized - but it may take just as long to load.
It takes 4GB to 5GB of video RAM, and 8~16gb of SYSTEM RAM to comfortably run this map. You will need at-least a half-decent Haswell intel (4xxx series) or Ryzen (any series!) processor to run this map with decent FPS, with the number of traffic vehicles dependent on how many cores your CPU has. That said, even a 10~11 year old first-generation i7 (Nehelam) chip-set based PC can run this map without too much issue if the settings are correct for your system's ability.
While all Ryzen processors - even the cheaper ones - can run this map pretty well, older AMD FX or non-Ryzen APU chips will have a lot of trouble running this map and many modern titles like Flight Simulator. If you have one of these systems, please retire it to the local church for a second lease on life, and purchase a better system. These older 'FX' are no good at physics-heavy or AI-intensive games, even when they were released some 8~10 years ago. I used to own an FX-6300, and in-fact I despised it so much (when upgrading the processor from an Athlon II X4 2.8ghz), that I only owned the PC for 3 weeks and then couldn't stand it anymore and almost threw it out the window back in 2014. By comparison, a 4.4ghz 4790k with running it's turbo speed for all cores, is 2x as powerful as a 4.0ghz AMD FX 6300 processor.
This lack of speed is due to module design of AMD FX processors. These processors have very weak FPU (physics math unit) performance that halves itself under all-core loads, causing AI and physics performance to tank. Please DO NOT use AMD FX generation processors with this simulation/game.
--Good luck & do get back to me. Sorry this is so drawn out.

In graphics options, you will see the option if you click on the box next to shadows, it says 'on', 'player only' or 'off'.
Choose player only or OFF, if you have a 2~2.5ghz laptop processor, a slower desktop or one with poor cooling, or if you have an older FX/APU style processor that came out before Ryzen from AMD. All of the other processors 3ghz~5ghz have no issues with shadows.
Even on the best computer out there, you may still expect a little bit of frame drops (under 60fps) in downtown Harriman.

When I am much further into Los Injurus, I will be back-porting the models (from that map to here), and using them to optimize this map for continued development. I am not quite ready to throw in the towel on this map, and there's still SO MUCH to do in this map. It was only a concept but folks tried it, and loved it, almost forcing me to make it what it is today. Keep in mind I spend the majority of my time working on Los Injurus, so tune-in over there on that thread to check it out, if you've not done so already.
Basically, if you hit CTRL+F (which toggles on FPS counter, and wait for GPU value), watch the FPS as you flick options on and off. Go with whatever gives the best FPS.

Target FPS for this simulator should be no less than 40~45fps, as that is where the input lag (which is more if there's less FPS) gets manageable and doesn't leave you at a loss to react quickly and smoothly with the vehicle. Anything below that and wild driving becomes difficult. 30~35fps is good enough for casual driving at the speed limit, though. 60+ FPS and you should be considered golden, getting the best performance (90% of computer monitors sold today don't do over 60FPS, because they are 60Hz monitors. 60Hz (Hertz) equals 60FPS.

    --Good luck!
