Update Speculation thread

I reiterate: We are talking about adding a vehicle that would be fun to drive in a videogame about driving. It isn't complicated. There's absolutely no reason to have a trophy truck just to introduce a prerunner.

Why have a bus when we don't have pedestrians? There's no need for public transport. Hell, why have any cars at all? There's no reason to transport anything, which is the whole point of the automobile.

Why have fuel efficient economy cars? We don't pay for gas in game. Why have base model cars? There's no economy in game. Why have rally cars without a codriver? Why have stock cars without pace cars? We had drag cars long before a drag strip, why was that? We still don't have a proper drift circuit, or a classic race track, so why have drift cars and vintage race cars? Why have the D-Series when there's no pickup things to do. Why have the Roamer when there's no familys to drive around. Why an abulance without pedestrians, or the fire chief Roamer without fires, or police cars withot a justoce system? Or cars without drivers? Or the work trucks without work to do? It's not like you'll be installing internet, so why is BeamCom a thing? Or Tasti-Cola, you can't drink it. Why have anything at all? If you are going to have one, you need the other!

And the T-Series was great fun without trailers. It's not like adding a trailer suddenly made it what it is. We had great fun with it before. Just like people have fun with the prerunner mod without having a friend mod in a trophy truck to drive behind them. Judging by how popular the LKS is, there's clearly a demand from people who won't get hung up on the semantics of off road racing trucks.

 

I really hope the next update will bring the FCV's powertrain improvements to other vehicles.

 

it would be helpful if there was a debug feature that showed the nodes/beams of a specific part
it would make things a lot easier

OT: So, you guys are talking about some kind of D-series truck? If that's the case, then I would like to say that an official prerunner might not be a bad idea for the game. Heck, if the devs make AR162B's D-Series mod an official thing in the game. That would be very cool.

 

There's a slot in one of the pickup bed JBEAM files for a bed liner, but it's currently unused.

 

Where did the picture and the whole pre-runner speculation come from? Did I miss out on something?

 

The picture was posted on the BeamNG Instagram and some other platforms a while back now. The pre-runner/baja truck speculation just came up out of nowhere recently, however I think it's unlikely that the D-Series is one of the aforementioned. It definitely appears to be more of a crawler or Ultra4 trials truck to me.

 

It's gotta be an ultra 4 style truck like the Hopper. The Prerunner/Baja/Stadium/Trophy stuff is just because it's a missing class that's fairly popular and they are making a heavily modified truck anyway, so it's not like it's out of the realm of official content anymore.

Plus, something like a SCORE class 8 race truck would probably be relatively easy to make.

 

19.4 has been released and as expected, no D series baja/offroad truck

one thing i think would be cool, is if they brought drive modes to more cars. and maybe more interior customization.

First that I heard anyone talk about DRI since it's removal in the update speculation thread.
