they also sometimes post there to ask for opinions about the looks, if they never ask the others, a part of a the car can stay weird on the release.

Let's not kid ourselves. Most of you post these pics just to get attention, not criticism. If you did,the mod would probably be much better, not some meshslap lying on unchanged grand marshall jbeam.

private/Russian mods are meshslaps. The Viano is an H-Series, the 2020 Supra is a K-Series, the EVO X FQ400 is a Sunburst, the IS300 is a Sunburst.

Simple answer, as long if it's not stolen, then i don't see why anyone would give a dam. If it was stolen, too late now, it exist.

Meshslap are just a completely trash (Not for Nekkit's lada), because they're just based on an existing Jbeam. But I'm clearly fine with private mods (meshslap) and such things, but flooding the Community Screenshot Thread with a picture of a meshslap are completely annoying.

    Small bump, guys.

    Fair point.
Yeah, especially the people who say "ha ha, you can't have this private mod."

Okay, here is my go at this.:
I am fine with private mods,I mean I like them, but what triggers me is the person that made it. Most of the time, private modders and YouTubers are not aggressive. However, some private modders that I will not name, basically have a swearing fit with the other person. It really annoys me how I get hit hard because of those stupid private mods. That is my opinion.

    My opinion..

People consider stuff trash because it is based on an existing jbeam, sure some stuff can be trash, especially if the jbeam doesn't fit at all, but it at least needs to have a fitting jbeam and be edited to where it fits a model decently.

To be honest, if meshslap wasn't even a term, this community would be much better and there likely would be a whole lot more mods.

Yes I have made meshslaps before and I've done it for a few years.
They likely would have been public if people wouldn't complain about simple things like "Hurr dURR, meshlap bad, crap mod".

If instead if people gave actual feedback on mods the author could actually make it better rather than calling any mod shit.

There is no problem with basing a mod on an existing jbeam imo.
And on the topic of private again.. If the community was nicer, maybe it wouldn't be private in the first place.

a lack of knowledge and an open mind leads to people just assuming all meshslaps are bad.
And i have to agree, if there wasnt such a large segregation between regular mods and meshslaps half the flamewars we get would not exist. I do not however condone forgetting the shear quality difference in a meshslap VS a regular good ol custom vehicle. The two will hardly ever be comparable.
Also meshslap is terribly defined. everyone has their own definition. Now, if there was some common ground on what they were, we would be making steps towards a less toxic environment. If people grew up and saw a mod for what it was, the forums would be much better. People also shouldnt elevate other modders to the status of godhood. Just because Nekkit makes some pretty decent 'meshslap' stuff, he shouldnt be held up as a god and have his work defended at all costs. the lack of constructive criticism goes both ways. People will just say "wow, great mod!" and never address any of its issues with humility or respect. And on the other side we have people that when you make any sort of criticism will jump you and call you out for starting drama or whatever.

its just a cycle of toxicity, and i wish it could be remedied.

I'll agree with Zonda. Nowadays everything that isn't 100% scratch made risk being called a meshslap, no matter how well done it is (see how some idiot who I won't name called Waboll's Roth Alpha a meshslap...)
This mentality is just making sure that more and more mods stay private, because no matter how good it is someone is going to come alone with their elitist line of thought and call it a meshslap.
This community is toxic to beginning modders and almost never gives anything CLOSE to constructive feedback, instead resorting to the same old line that basically boils to "not scratch made bad"
If we can just drop the stupid and currently poorly defined term of "meshslap" and start being helpful to mod creators for once, a lot of the "private mods" you see on the forums won't have been private in the first place

TL;DR: We as a community basically brought this upon ourselves, so stop complaining and try and make things better for everyone, or just let it be and don't make it any worse

can we all collectively return the term "meshslap" to it's original meaning, aka taking someone elses mesh (forza, slrr mod, whatever) and "slapping" it on:

    slap
    /slap/
    verb
put or apply (something) somewhere quickly, carelessly, or forcefully.
"slap on a bit of make-up"

take note of "quickly and carelessly": a pessima Jbeam with the nodes moved to fit a self-made hyundai sonata model, (while not the highest quality mod out there), is far from quick and careless.

It really depends on the extent it is edited.
If only edited to fit, then yes, I guess it would be a "Meshslap".

i'd say as long as it's had some effort put into jbeam editing, it's not a meshslap anymore.
but is it? even just moving nodes around is a reasonably time consuming process. to me, mods are only mesh slaps when they're "mass produced" if you, take the model, rename the meshes so they overwrite the standard ones, make sure the textures are working well enough for a youtube thumbnail, call it a day.
    low effort? sure.
    mesh-slapped on? no.

and if the problem you have is that it's a forza mesh, or non-credited mesh, then it's a "stolen mesh mod".
