I have used the I7 4770, I'm not sure about the difference between the 2, but I think they are close in peformance, and I am telling you, the i7 4770 is amazing, I would be playing demanding games like watch dogs and the cpu does not break a sweat!

I wonder if OP had a reason for asking this... we may never know.

When a dedicated gpu isn't an option, such as laptops, an APU is usually the better option. AMD doesn't have a competitive enthusiast option... but their APUs have a place. Price/performance can give them the lead as well... the blue tax is high.

Do we have any info on how bng runs on different multicore systems irl? It'd be interesting to see how say a plain quad-core handles x vs quad-core+ht vs a dual module cpu... esp. at the same clocks.

Yes, but, no where were APUs discussed here. They are irrelevant to the conversation.

This is pretty cut and dry. The Intel is faster but more money. The AMD is slower but less money. The Intel will have more longevity. The AMD will use less power.

Actually they use more power and as a result kick out more heat too

Ah, but the any in "any AMD CPU" includes any... such as their line of APUs. They serve the same purpose, they can run the game, they were discussed here.

If you've "always thought" something about technology, you're probably wrong. The FX line is rather power thirsty.

Yep and cutting out the often massive price gap between Intel and AMD processors is stupid. Price to performance on AMD processors is just better, even though an Intel equivalent may have better performance its still much more expensive.

It isn't that massive. My intel 2500k cost me 220€ 2 years ago, and the FX-8350 costs 160€ now. Considering that my CPU is faster, consumes less power, can overclock A LOT (from 3,3Ghz to 4,5Ghz with a slight increase in voltage) I wouldn't say the price gap is massive at all.

May I ask why it was on a 4770s? I've never seen one used outside of an htpc. (Also, that's pretty good fps for all those cars, even with a 4770 processor)

Makes sense, but isn't it just a 4770 that throttles at a lower point? I don't know all the classes (k s u v I think) but I was under the impression they were the same chip? (Makes it even more impressive if it had hit throttle.)
