    Greetings,

So if this has already been discussed in the Bugs section, I apologize... I did a search, found nothing similar to what I'm asking. Deactivated all my mods, but didn't uninstall (I believe deactivate is the only litmus test... am I right?). Couldn't verify with Safe Mode, as the Bug Icon does not appear in Safe Mode.

When the developers first introduced "free/detached camera" zoom with +/- keys, in v.0.17; you could zoom in to as far as 10° FOV... which is fine, as that is usually close enough.

But if you wanted that extra 9-degrees from FOV 9° down to FOV 1°, you used to be able to press [Esc] and the [Debug] icon, and zoom in further, moving the slider to the left, those extra 9-degrees; and you would get it that much closer.

After one of the updates... I have no idea which... those extra 9 degrees on the Debug, detached-camera slider will not zoom any further than the 10° FOV that the + key (or the slider) gets you down to.
That is to say, the slider will physically move further left-- as there is room to do so-- and the numbers will count down from 9° to 0° FOV... but the zoom doesn't get any tighter than the 10° FOV-- that the + key initially takes one down to. Compare the pic below with the one above, and you'll see even though the bug slider says 1° below, the image is not any further zoomed in, than the 10° image above.

As a further point of discussion, I tested the opposite end of the spectrum, and the widest angle with the + key backs out to 120° FOV, while the debug slider all the way to the right, only takes it out to 100° FOV.

The wide angle end of the spectrum is not so much a problem, because the debug slider does not "pretend" to have extra range to work with on the right-side, and then not move. But on the left-side it does-- past the point where there's any visible change to the camera view.

Hope this all kinda' makes sense.

You should be able to set it manually through the console in TS mode via 'setfov(VALUE)'

Hello, and thank you for your reply. That sounds simple enough once I’m in there, but I’m not sure what is meant by “the console” & “TS mode”. I’m not familiar with those terms. What do they mean? Is it like going into the “Lua”, (another deep, dark rabbit hole I’m not familiar with)?

    Thank you for your help.

The in-game console, where you can see what the game is doing, as well send commands to the game.

The key varies depending on your keyboard layout. On US-Layout keyboard it's ~
If you use anything different, check within Options > Controls > Bindings (search for 'Console')

Once done, you will see this:

The button I indicate is where you select the mode of the console. The setFov() command works in TS mode, so you have to select it first.
Then simply insert the command, put your value in the brackets and press enter

Thank you. This certainly points me in the right direction. I wasn’t sure at first.
Can you tell me what the letters TS stand for?
