So to make the initial design look a little bit less like a Chevrolet TrailBlazer, I've added in some side cladding and reshaped the rear bumper slightly. This version of the vehicle will have a model year of 1998. Once I get the vehicle developed enough, I'll start adding a facelift variant with major front and rear cosmetic changes. This is just an outline so I know it'll look a little odd at first before I start adding even more details.

will it be chevy based or ford based, because the original roamer is ford based.

I don't believe the Roamer is based on a specific Ford model. While it is very much like the Ford Explorer in terms of design, it is meant to be merely a representation of the contemporary full-size SUVs on the market during its availability. Therefore, as a mid-size, the Traipse will see some design cues from Chevrolet TrailBlazer, Ford Explorer, and even Jeep Grand Cherokee, the latter of which I tend to see more of now in the latest screenshot.

Doesn't matter, it's still a copyrighted name, most likely.

Looks like a funky mix between a TrailBlazer and a Yukon and I. Am. Digging. It.

No, this project is not dead. I'm just a terrible Blender user and have been having a hard time trying to find a way to continue with the workflow I was using, where I would model a lot of the vehicle from the side and work my way in. Ultimately I need a simpler approach, so today I'm pulling an omega-13 and have used one hour to construct this primitive shell.

    traipse_01.png

Part of this shell come from working strictly in side view, but by limiting how many vertices I have to work with, it is easier for me to turn that into the shell. The side slopes were also made with a Gavril Roamer as a reference. Actually, most of this thing was, as it turns out that my original side-view "art" was way too small to be the vehicle I was trying to create, and I wasn't going to bother resizing something I grew distasteful of. This is now much closer in size to the Gavril Roamer, but I'll still try to make it somewhat smaller so it can be considered a midsize SUV.

    traipse_0.png

Yes, I know it looks awful. Just trying to set a lower initial bar this time, and besides, like I said, I'm pretty poor at doing something like this, but at least it's something I want to try doing. It'll look better as I do more to it. I may post an update or two every day because I actually want to do this more than I make it seem. This will continue until I have to get back to work, at which point I'll be completely unavailable to devote time to making this vehicle. Hopefully I can get a lot more done before that time comes.

Yeah, P_enta's rather good at modeling. I have seen the occasional flaw in his work, but if you want a model done so you can move on to jbeam, etc., he's your man.
