Pro's: - Great graphics improvements - Very nice UI - Great new car options - Great map improvements (love the new 'cliff' map, use it for hillclimbing ) - Love the new transmission settings Con's: - Maybe everyone disagrees, but I've some comments on how the cars drive now; On a flat surface (Grid map) the D15 will hardly roll over, even the Offroad version hardy will while going 60mph+ sideways. I've never tried going sideways in a real truck, but isn't this an infamous issue of older and/or lifted pickup trucks? I didn't mind the Bolide was hard to control in the old version, old high output Ferrari's etc won't be easy to drive at the limit as well I think. And shouldn't the Bolide suffer from lift-off oversteer? I know it also depends on the wheel setup, but I think a car with the c.o.g. after the center of the wheelbase should oversteer when braking/lifting. (I'm using a keyboard for driving, maybe it's because the weight transitions are to quick?) - Already mentioned, the Pigeon seems a bit too strong to me, and so seems the roof of the D15. If you take a look at rollover pictures or vids on Youtube, a slow rollover is sometimes enough to flatten the whole cabin of a pickup. (Wasn't this as well an infamous issue of especially older pickup trucks?) - Sometimes the game resets itself or crashes when a large accidents happen; - once I drove the Bolide against a wall when going 140+MPH, the game crashed, didn't respond, wouldn't quit by itself. Didn't get the regular crash window. - Once I crashed the Pigeon against the D15 while going full-speed, the game stopped, resetted both vehicles in 'each other'(!). When manually resetting the cars afterwards, only the frame of the Pigeon appeared and the wheels of the D15 were missing. (Both the meshes and n/b's) All in all I think it's a great update! Thanks!
LOL. I've tried to slick in the slidenodes for the update at the last moment. I wanted them to be there, to see what new things the designers will create with them. I love being surprised by the creativity/imagination of the designers .
you should work on some tools, documentation, and examples to make working with jbeam easier, you might get some new designers making cool things if the learning curve was a little smoother.
The start screen is extremely buggy on my (bad) pc. every few seconds the sound and graphic engine stop and then it goes on with 250fps. in game everything is fine (on high with 24 to 26fps) pc: MSI P7N Platinum SLI 8 GB RAM (4GB Corsair, 4 Uknown) ATI HD6970 Intel Core2Quad 2.5GHz (i know :/ thats the thing, isn't it?)
Overall I really like the update and things are moving in a good direction, I love how we can now spawn cars without having to use the mission editor, but the car spawn option is beyond broken. From my experience it will now spawn the car in 1 of two locations, below everything on the map or inside the vehicle that I am using, this is extremely annoying because I really want to play around with multiple cars. I also thing that the loading screen needs to be reconsidered, while I do love how beautiful it is, the frame rate is garbage for them there, it freezes and fluctuates between 7 and 20 FPS, I do not have any issues with the main menu screen which has 1,000FPS. My trackpad now doesnt work for rotating the camera around the car. One last thing, something about slowing down physics is freezing my game, sometimes so bad that it won't even let task manager shut it down, this happened when I believe multiple things are being pressed at 12% simulation speed.
Pros:I Dunno havent played for more than 5 mins Cons: The Color changer dosent work for me it just stays transparent and it wont select a color This now mean my cars are stuck wiht Adaptive Camoflague....
Noticed you have a C2Q like me! Fancy doing the built in BeamNG benchmark to see how you compare? Would appreciate it. Check out how here: http://www.beamng.com/threads/8595-BANANA-Benchmark-Results-Comparison
ok so i finally got the updater to work, heres my review: pros: -AMAZING GRAPHIS -new vehicles -more detail -new menu and UI cons: -pigeon is a bit too trong -hmm...i forgot this one -cant find the break groups thingy
Okay downloaded a fresh copy of alpha prerace and the road barrier textures are still missing. Screen below. BTW...download was glorious at 5MB-7MB/sec.
Overall a great update. My views below. Pros: - Looks a lot better - graphics are a step up, stuff like the road detail (potholes, patching etc) looks really nice. Reflections on vehicles looks a bit sharper - The new UI is great, really nice. Sensibly laid out with some nice options. - Physics seems more robust, cars seem to react more appropriately to certain impacts. - For the most part, random sliding and wheel wobbling seems to be a lot better - Performance seems improved. With everything on high (with the exception of SSAO which is off) at 1600x900 I get around 30-35 FPS on Dry Rock Island, 40-60 on most other maps. Cons: - Camera view controls - up on the control pad is view up, down is view down - I can't cope with that, I need an option to invert the Y axis so that pulling down on the stick tilts the camera up, as it used to be in the old version. - No button mapping for controls - in the previous update Hard reset and soft reset of vehicles (R and CTRL+R) automatically bound themselves to the D pad on my controller. No more and no option to put it back. - Resetting vehicles is still horribly broken/random - reset vehicles seem to appear orientated to nothing in particular. Example, I bust a wheel on the D15 and ground to a halt facing straight down the road, hit reset and a new D15 appears, but orientated at 90 degrees across the road. - Some random freezing and crashing, mostly when changing vehicles.
I'm pretty sure that the vehicles always spawn in the same direction, it's just not dependant on where it was facing when it was re set. So for example, it always re sets facing north.
all the pros have already been stated so I just want to put this one major con down )= The Grand Marshal's driveshaft is about as durable as rice paper now. - - - Updated - - - -Pigeon just has a very solid chassis and I personally love it. and the break groups is here
Is this only in my case, or currently there are no window decoration in non-fullscreen mode? That's really a dreawback because now it is not possible to have, for example, beamng opened next to a text editor.
i don't really understand what you mean. i have beamng started in windowed mode (720p) and i can switch between my browser and stuff and beam by just moving the mouse. or do you mean that you don't have a frame around your window? then in graphic options uncheck 'borderless'
