I wonder what's the progress on the police & taxi versions?
Or are they mostly halted to complete the other incomplete models?

I've started on police stuff - decals, livery, pushbar. Still have to do a lightbar, spotlights, antennae, etc.

I'm a fanatic for police vehicles and weapons. Good thing we'll have police vehicles. Maybe later we could have a police helicopter, right Gabe?

Can BeamNG simulate wing surfaces like in RoR?
as cool as it would be to have choppers and planes, I don't see that happening, atleast at release, how can we handle the speed of the rotation of rotors and keep it realistic with the system?
don't want to sound like a 'glass half-empty' guy, I really love aircraft, and I can see myself parkng the Vanster on a ridge then ramming it with the cockpit of a helicopter, watching the blades fragment, then fall to the ground on top of the van, if we could mix hard-body for the rotors and the soft-body of the cars and fuselages, it would be epic.

Helicopters were made in ror so to my knowledge the softbody system can handle them. Its more a case of how practical it is to make them in the BeamNG game engine.

What lightbar are you planning to use? & what pattern?
Sorry if the Q seems mundane, but these things always irritate me if the lightbar is with one of those simple, symmetric light patterns.
oh, how about a License Plate recognition system on the boot? (just for the heck of it :p) (I meant just the mesh, not the whole system)

These are just suggestions & should be taken as such.

Because lightbars are always symmetrical?... Wut?

By license plate recognition system I hope you just mean the mesh, otherwise please... this ain't "police car simulator 2013".

I'm sure Gabester knows how to make a realistic lightbar, just like he's done with, oh I don't know, the rest of his cars in BeamNG :p

If at all possible without being glitchy on deformation, and if it suits the type of lightbar, I would love to see the light-dish-thingys inside the lightbar spin though, always loved that little detail in GTA IV. But of course I wouldn't be upset if it can't be done because it would cause clipping when the mesh deforms :)

Sorry, I just read thru it again & found that unfortunately, it doesn't mean what I want it to mean. Unfortunately I was in a weird mood at that time & even after reading thru it 2 times I couldn't comprehend that it meant differently. :(

I meant just the mesh, I don't care about the actual system, & it wouldn't make sense either.
I did not say lightbars are always symmetrical, just that I like symmetrical lightbars.
I am very well aware that lightbar patterns are not always symmetrical, as I've seen in videos and in GTA:IV. I always didn't like those asymmetrical patterns & that's what I meant.

It was just a suggestion, I know & am sure Gabe will make it however best & well-suited to the game he can. I was just saying what I feel.

I agree with the rotators, would love to see them inside the lightbar (if that type lightbar is implemented & the rotators don't cause issues when deforming).

I edited my previous post so that noone else gets the fatally wrong impression (...so that noone takes it the wrong way).

Not all lightbars have the same patern, these days police officers can choose how their lights flash. (And some are rubbish when it comes to using their flashers efficiently, ain't that right, Texas DPS?)

And for the plate recognition, it'll probably look horrible, I mean, those things are made from plastic, and plastic doesn't deform, it cracks...

And for the people who don't know what those License Plate recognition camera's look like:

    (imported from here)
They'r the black camera's on the trunk.

Yes, but we do have some modern vehicles like the Hirochi Sunburst and the Hirochi SBR4, and Hirochi has the most modern cars so far.

I think that there is no reason to be based around 90's, though it's good that many cars are/will be from there, I think.

Not exactly. The Gavril G2 was pretty fast. Only problem was that it's Front Wheel Drive.

There are many cars that have been shown/planned from a range of 1960's through Modern...

I think what david means is that the grand marshal is based off the crown Victoria, a car made in the 90s.

That could be what he meant, the rear is very similar to the mid '90s Crown Victorias, as my father had one. Isn't it also based on the Caprice? There was a post somewhere, but I forgot what it said.

My original intention was that I remember seeing Gabester talk about how the game will have a 90's feel for it and most cars would fit that era. Either or, the Marshal appears to be based around a 90's era car (Not just the Vic.)
