Repository not working (not just slow)

    Repository not connecting to server on freshly installed game. Online content is ticked, internet is working well, I made sure neither firewall nor antivirus is interfering. There is not even a slight delay to show it is trying to connect. I tried on three consecutive days just in case servers are down. Your assistance would be appreciated..

    That is not a very helpful answer. I made sure sure to mention that as far as I could ascertain there is nothing wrong on my side (I forgot to mention I do not use a VPN). I was hoping for something a bit more helpful than "your problem, not ours".

    I appreciate you taking the time to give users answers to their problems, but this ain't it.
    you basically told him, your problem not ours, linked a page which nothing would be valid to solve it (internet is working, no vpn, freshly installed so no mods), and said nothing else.
    it's like you didn't even read...his post?
    I know you are trying to help, but it is a pretty careless move to link something that doesn't apply to his case and then leaving him in the dark.
    you need to give him info that is useful, not an invalid page (made invalid by OP).
    be better dude.

    Sorry if I sounded like that, not meaning to, rather to provide a quick answer due being in a rush.

    Freshly installed does not imply no mods being installed:
    Some users call a fresh install a simple reinstall the game via Steam, which does not clear out the mods folder (Steam does not touch the mods in any case). The page I linked mentions the mods in the last point, asking to make sure that no mods / modified files are being forgotten somewhere which be causing the problem.

    I also confirmed that they in fact aren't, but up and running as usual, as it was questioned if they were actually working or not.
    (if they go down for any reason, like maintenance, we usually have a site-wide notice about it)


    So yeah, that's pretty much it.
    This kind of issues does not produce any kind of information we can use to help the user generally. The most we would get from the logs is a simple "Unable to connect" error which leaves plenty of space to the imagination.

    So am I again suggesting that the issue could possibly be caused by something forgotten in the fresh install (a clean install is a safer approach), something on your system blocking the game from reaching our server (a firewall, antivirus and whatnot; check this list too) or the ISP (you may test from here, although that's for the download speeds, not the reachability usually)


    Additionally, please provide more information on the issue as "not working" is too generic:
    Is the repository page staying blank? Is there any text being displayed?
    Are the other tabs (Mods for example) working?
    Was it working before? If yes, when the issue started?
    (ie. After an update / after installing some mod /randomly)
    A support ID would allow us to have a look at your logs too: https://supportid.beamng.com/
    (although keep in mind what I said above on these type of errors, the logs may not give us any additional information on this type of issue)

    From what I understood, servers speed are not what are being reported here. OP is having issues accessing the repository altogether or so (I asked further info above, as it's unclear what the exact issue is)

    Anyway, the delay you are mentioning is normal:
    All the in-game downloads are served via a CDN.
    When you upload a mod to the repository, it is only available within the forum network in the first few hours.
    Once the CDN is synced up, then that mod is served via it, and it becomes visible in-game as well.
    Usually this process only takes a few hours.

    Thank you, this was much more in line of what I was hoping for when posting about the problem.
    I will try to give you any and all the info you need to help me fix this.
    First of all, by fresh install I mean I bought the game, installed it, tried the repository and it did not work. I did not install any mods, just went through settings and maybe had one game of the scenarios.
    I have none of the apps that were listed as potentially causing problems. ISP reachability is not something I know how to test but has not been an issue in any of my other internet based activities (online gaming, streaming, conferencing, and more), my internet is very reliable and pretty fast.
    Additional information:
    By repository not working I mean when I click on it it straight away pops up with the following message:

    Other tabs: Automation returns the same error message as in the screenshot. Mods says there are no mods installed.
    Was it working before? As mentioned, I have only just bought the game so no, it has never worked.
    My support ID is 82046.
    Please let me know if there is anything you would like from me to make the diagnoses easier.

    That's better, please always include as much details as possible like above when reporting a problem.

    The launcher shows that one of your file is modified:

    164.69479|I|verifyHash| lua\ge\extensions\core\online.lua: different
    That file manages the online part. Unless you edited it manually for some reason, it could be corrupted.
    Follow this guide to let Steam redownload the corrupted/broken/missing files from your install:

    You can use the Launcher > Suppor Tools > Verify Integrity to double-check that all files are intact afterwards.


    Second, your logs contains this:

    First please check what I mentioned in the earlier paragraph, as it could mainly be caused by that,
    Additionally check that your system clock is correct: incorrect system clock is often the cause of SSL errors.

    Thank you for your reply.
    I ran the Steam file verification which did, indeed, find one file in need of fixing (which it did).
    Next, the game's integrity verification support tool did not find any issues.
    I generated a new support ID afterwords: 82054.
    I made sure my system clock and time zone was correct.
    The problem still persisted.
    I tried again with both antivirus and firewall disabled but no joy.
    This seems to be a bit of a head scratcher.
    Once again thank you for trying to help me.
    What else could be the problem?

    Sorry if I sound super irrelevant and I did not have enough time to read this whole thread, and this might be answered, but can’t you just download the .zip file of a mod from this website then put it in your repo folder? Is the “mods” section of the repository working? Again, sorry if I’m an idiot.

    Sorry, I forgot to mention that I did run the game and checked if repository was working before I generated the support ID.
    FaceyDuck, thank you for your comment. The issue is mainly with the repository, not the mods section at this stage.

    Newest logs shows the file has been corrected, but the same error remain:

    This time there is a bit more info:
    Code:
      2.69742|E|online|Unable to log in. Unable to connect: schannel: next InitializeSecurityContext failed: SEC_E_ILLEGAL_MESSAGE (0x80090326) - This error usually occurs when a fatal SSL/TLS alert is received (e.g. handshake failed). More detail may be available in the Windows System event log.
    
    The logs do not show any issues coming from the game itself.
    As I mentioned earlier, the issue is more likely lying somewhere in-between the game sending a connection request, and the server receiving the correct request.
    As we cannot point you to any specific solution, it's mostly about trying and see what the cause could be.

    What is your ISP? Even though your internet is working, it does not exclude that your provide may be having issues receiving specific addresses. Our SysAdmin also suggested that some ISP do SLL/TLS interception (in other words, your traffic is being decrypted), which would fail a secure connection.

    Did you check if you were able to reach and download a file from this page I posted earlier?

    Hi and thank you for your reply.
    I have downloaded one of the files from https://speed.hetzner.de/ with no problem (I assume there is no need to download them all?).
    I also contacted my ISP and they confirmed they do not have SLL/TLS interception as part of their service.
    What else can I do at my end and/or can you do at your end?
    Once again, your help is very much appreciated.
