One minor thing I noticed in this video is you've scaled the main UI really small. Just making mention that you can use the arrow on the top left of the window to collapse it.
Ah yes I noticed that as well. Not sure how feasible that is though. But if that would be improved it's even better.
Tried this out on a Gentoo Linux system. It just works. I'm amazed of the performance and netcode of this. We were flying at each other with rocket buses and shooting folks with cannons, collisions were resolved ridiculously well. Even 3-way crashing was just clean, brilliant work. This is how a multiplayer mod is done right. Actually competent devs. BeamMP shall now only serve as a reminder of how not to do things.
In their defense, they have not professionally worked in the game development business, it's not like they don't put effort into it. Having said that, I do agree that I like this better than BeamMP, I just wish cars would be stable as even though my ping stands around 100, which isn't bad (I know, it's not great) other's cars shake near complete unpredictably even on vanilla servers. Does anyone know how this might be improved on my end, or is this a KissMP end problem?
Yea that seems to be just plain inconsistent, one session will be laggy hell while other will have perfect motion. I did sugarcoat it a lot since it's basically just released, there's lots to polish. By far the most annoying thing is the massive lags from people configuring their cars. Some minor desync too, I noticed eg gear grinding and seeing people blow engines only on my side. There's so many other things this mod just does right than just technical implementation. Just the fact this mod is free (as in freedom) and open source means far more than the vast majority of this forum understand. Minimalist software is the best software as well, it just working on my rather unique system is proof of that.
As far as grinding goes, it's possible for things to desync slightly and that'll happen. Though I specifically added code that would make the gears not get damaged when it does. So cars at least won't be randomly missing gears. There's sync issues primarily < 60fps. Something we're aware of and it's one of the top priorities for future updates.
A lot of the issues with sync were caused by one small mistake in ping calculation. Because of it, ping wasn't smoothed correctly, which can lead to uneven time synchronization, and with that, to jumpy lag compensation. I still haven't tested it, but it should help quite a bit. Also, prediction limit was kinda high, which could give jumpy results too with people who have high packet loss rates. Still, this all is untested and only improves sync in theory
So making the first BeamNG MP ever for free is not enough? The servers can be gained as of now (not for long anymore, soon free) for 1$, 1$! (since they are still beta) or boosting the server. Also whats the problem really with Discord, Discord has nothing to do with the Download itself.
They are hostile towards drm-free versions and alternative operating systems. They require you to register to and install a privacy nightmare on your system, only because the dev wants to have absolute control about who gets to use his mod. The multiplayer wasn't even good, KissMP does everything better. Requiring any payment is just insult to injury.
Compared to absolutely free from the start (Not because someone else forced them to do it) and open sourced? Not to talk about the much better implementation... But i digress, this is a childish argument. both are cool, and both will lead to progress in the beamng multiplayer community, if people like you stop making a mess out of it.
thsts a you problem. It’s cause your pc lags like crazy. When I was in session with you if I drove too close you would spraticslly hit me and shake and vibrate
