No there wont be, that would be a massive undertaking and why in the hell do they need to change the engine ? what the beam team has currently is perfect (or last time i checked it was) for what is being done
What I meant was a newer engine that also supported BeamNG would be nice, since the engine BeamNG uses right now isn't optimized enough. Maybe they could optimize the current engine, but I hope you get me now.
They based the engine off of Torque3D, but it's so edited by now that it's basically a home-made one. It's specifically edited it to fit BeamNG.drive.
Ohhh, okay. So it was originally optimized enough but because of the tweaks the devs made, they had to compensate the optimization?
The engine BeamNG runs on handles the game perfectly fine. Why would you want a new one the when the current engine is fine?
I think I said it in a different way lol What I meant was, I want BeamNG to make it so that the engine utilizes the CPU and GPU better, because you can't run much cars. --- Post updated --- Sorry for making the question sound different, but what I meant was, I want the developers to optimize BeamNG so that it utilizes the CPU and GPU better, since even high-end CPUs can't run much cars.
I think he is meaning this in connection to this post. That video shows a big lack in optimization to the CPU scaling.
Sorry for making the question sound different, but what I meant was, I want the developers to Pretty much. Thanks for also linking a video to show what I mean!
The game certainly shows its age, largely thanks to the torque3D foundations. Limited map sizes, the aforementioned poor CPU utilization, etc... But even on a technically simple game, a game engine swap is a huge undertaking. Let alone one as complicated as BeamNG.Drive
Is it because your PC sucks? I’m not saying the engine is perfect, but it’s good enough to not require the devs to need to overhaul the game. It would honestly be unnecessary This is true, the engine has shown it’s age, but it’s enough for what Beam is.
According to the devs giving it a new engine would basically mean working for years to make the whole game from scratch again. It kinda sucks, cause BeamNG looks like a very dated looking game and the optimization could be better. But for what it is it’s much good enough.
I mean, look at iRacing. One of the most popular sim racing games & yet the graphics are about on par with BeamNG; haven't really seen people complain about those
The beamng renderer is definitely outdated, however the cpu side is fine, when considering what is actually calculated. I find it funny how most people just say it is not optimised, whenever there are performance problems, what do you even mean, there is no optimise button. Optimising a game literally just means making it perform better. The actual way you achieve that varies greatly. On the graphics side you could improve meshes, rescale textures, add/adjust lods, make changes to the renderer, adjust the amount of polygon seen at any moment by changing levels, reduce draw calls, use modern chip technologies like rt cores tensor cores other forms of hardware acceleration... The same goes for cpu: reduce simulation complexity for things that dont need it, pause physics for non moving objects, use the gpu as a physics accelerator, use tech like sdfs..., Improve ram management to avoid stutters, improve the math for your simulations........ Seriously WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY SAYING oPTiMiSe?!?!?!?!
However look at dcs outdated as fuck... Still looks fucking awesome. Almost as good as msfs. True it runs like crap... But still --- Post updated --- Yeah, but which one, you can't do all... Also beam is in a pretty good spot rn, considering their budget... As I said the renderer is pretty outdated, would be great if it was reworked to perform and look better, also to support individual mirrors and vr
I'd say that's because I-Racing is more of a sim for hardcore fans but BeamNG has a very general target audience. Only dedicated sim racers play iRacing, but, depending on how much RPG elements are in career mode, BeamNG is basically the game everyone has dreamed of at least once. When you are more of a game than a sim and have a general audience instead of a niche audience, things like graphics matter a lot more. That being said, BeamNG currently can be a very pretty game on the remastered maps with the right monitor settings and tweaking the in game settings a bit.
Yeah, but which one, you can't do all... Also beam is in a pretty good spot rn, considering their budget... As I said the renderer is pretty outdated, would be great if it was reworked to s Yeah but it's pretty in a art sense not tech... I love the car designs especially.
