I think follow me was a thing way back but it was probably removed in the Race Update or shortly before that. Glad to see it back.

That was in the game a long time ago but removed for one reason or another. Good to see it back.

With how many vehicles are getting new/updated derby variants, I'd assume that they are starting to lay groundwork for the career mode. And assuming that the crawler/baja vehicles aren't just pet projects, they probably also represent a discipline that will be in career mode. The covet's updated drivetrain probably would be for a street class of vehicle that they will start working on.

So I'll assume that as of now, the types of events in career mode will be like so:
    Derby
    Off-road crawling/baja
    Street racing
    Delivery/heavy duty

I'm only putting those types because vehicles that fall into those categories have been introduced/updated. We've hardly seen any updates for high performance track oriented cars, and while we will probably get track events, they might be the last type implemented since the vehicles in that category are lacking.

I dont think we are getting full on racing cars until the full tire simulation is implemented. Whenever that comes, im guessing we will get the full range of race cars.

    Race Update 2: Electric Boogaloo

In all seriousness though that could very well be the next update assuming they don't intend to release the Legran remaster or Wendover next.

What "full range of race cars" do you expect that we don't have atm?

he means that every box of car types is ticked off, and only then you would be able to add full on purpose built racecars

    sounds kinda restrictive o_O

They could do what they did for the Charro and only put a couple of configs for the body style, or what they did for the D-Series facelift and make a random selection of configs the new body style

For vehicles with smaller quantity of configs they could go the FCV route and just give us everything

He most likely means F1 and Nascar race cars. Like a car that is custom built only for the track. Basically, he wants an official version of the FR16, FR17, a typical Nascar race car, and very detailed skins like you see in real life.

What's interesting is that we now have 2 purpose-built crawlers (and a prerunner) but there is a complete lack of purpose-built race-cars such as NASCARs, V8 supercars, or even a fun-cup beetle. would also be cool to see cup car configs for the SBR4 and Vivace (911 GT3 cup and Clio cup)

I feel that the devs wont add a completely new and seperate purpose built race car that is its own car in the vehicle selector. But they may add a config of an already existing car that has a completely different chassis, as they did with the crawler/prerunner.

Don't forget a K-Series GT car! And ETK 800 coupe/sedan if/when we see one. At least the Vivace has a BTCC style car. Drag cars are another thing we are down on.... Not a single gasser, tubbed rear end, modified wheelbase, pro-mod, etc...

I don't think purpose built race cars ought to be completely out of the question, though many of them have a low cost/benefit ratio as it's a lot of work for a car that shares little with existing platforms and usually only gets one form of racing. So I'm not expecting any...

For example, take NASCAR cup cars. Gen 4 and up would require completely unique parts, so that's a tough sell. Gen 1 and 2 cup cars were still close enough to factory to disregard for this conversation. Gen 3 is the gray zone, as they still used body panels from the street cars but they weren't exactly "race on Sunday sell on Monday" anymore either. I certainly would like to see a gen 3 car since it's unique, historically/culturally significant, and offers a new form of racing as it's much more extreme than the gen 1/2 alternatives.

Another gray zone example is modifieds. 1940's-1960's they were still relatively close to stock, so again we can disregard them for this conversation. The 1970's is when they got tube frames. I don't think an early modified would be much more difficult than the crawlers to make since both use modified bodies already in game, engines already in game, both are relatively basic tube frames, both offer a unique variation of a type of racing that we really can't see without them, etc...

Something that is unable to share any parts with the car its based off of is out of the question. This eliminates things like open wheeled cars and lmp cars. It also eliminates full blown trophy trucks and nascars as they dont share any parts either. Looking at the prerunner, it shares things like the interior, and you can put parts from the standard truck onto it. Things like that are possible.

I really don't think it is a necessary thing though... Many have a poor cost/benefit ratio and therefore it's difficult to justify development, but that isn't universal.

One of the bigget reasons the game isn't taken seriously as a racing sim is the lack of high end race cars, so the attraction to another target audience is a big thing to consider here. "Proper" race cars, while not as good as licensed cars/tracks for hardcore sim racers, will certainly be attractive to this audience

As for modifieds specifically... As I mentioned, they would use existing engines and modified version of existing bodies in the same way both crawlers already do. The difference being we could drop a number of bodies ontop. Vintage modifieds frames aren't all that different than what was done for the crawlers either: just heavily modified ladder frame. See below.

The update broke a LeGran based tube buggy mod I had, which was useful for converting the LeGran to AWD. I can't anymore, sadly. I think the Dev's should add AWD as it's real life counterpart had a (rare) option of AWD, not to mention how integral rallying/offroading is to Beam.

And as someone mentioned the Moonhawk is terribly underutilized. Granted coupes were still very common in the 70s, but It needs at least a sedan and hopefully a mid-range engine (small V8) and station wagon.

I'd also like to see an expansion of the Pigeon- a 4 wheel version of course ( I have the Dove mod which is amazing but quite old now), a bigger petrol engine with some actual torque, and maybe a UTV/side by side type model with an open body, rollcage and CVT.

You have a point with the Moonhawk, that platform is missing basically all its bodystyles

Id love to see a roadmap of where beamng is trying to head towards, and what features they prioritize/long term plans.

career mode has had no mention what so ever in the past few years i think.
im curious to know whats brewing up for this game.

like im wondering if they will make perpose built vehicles that are in the same vain as the prerunner such as rally / racecars which are only slightly based on the original car
but also a better focus on more bodystyles for existing vehicles?

grr i was editing my post when someone removed it just so it wasnt offtopic

Honestly, i really doubt they are ever doing a post like the one we got like 3 years ago laying the road ahead mentioning features that were coming to the game eventually. Its like the concept car list that still haunts the devs to this very day
