well obviously if this was to be turned into a base game vehicle a lot of it would be revamped. the meshes in some places are kinda iffy and some textures are pretty weird. you would probably have to deelte 75% of the car and make it from scratch for it to be a base game vehicle and i doubt it will happen.
Yeah I didn't even mention the mesh and texture issues (like the taillights STILL looking weird after having been redone like 3 times), and why would they waste the effort on converting this into an official car if they could make a new original minivan for the game instead (I hope there could be a small early 2000s minivan after the Wendover, maybe a Cherrier?), and also there's the absurd amount of anime skins which would all have to be deleted due to copyright lol
I'm coming out of hiatus for a bit just to hotfix this mod so it isn't broken completely. The Kashira isn't going to be official content, nor is it trying to be. Modding has always just been a purely for-fun thing for me (as it should be), and this mod is meant to reflect that. It may not be professional to have so many configs that a creative organization method is needed, or to have silly configs like the ramplow version or fwd drag van that are completely unrealistic, but it is a lot more fun to develop things like that, and I'm sure it is fun to a lot of users of this mod as well. I'm truly grateful for all the many people who have come together over this mod's development, both for their help and all the creative twists they have added to make this mod even more fun. And while some members of this mod's development team have gone on to do even greater things with the BeamNG team, that is not at all indicative of anything this mod is or will be. It is just a silly little Pessima meshslap that introduced me to a lot of great people in this community, and gave me something to do outside of school for the past coupe of years. On that note, for both how much people seem to like this mod, and how much people seem to hate "meshslaps," you can't forget that it is literally just a Pessima meshslap. And that it originally looked like this: The only reason I was ever able to turn that mess into the Kashira is because of constant support from the community, and tips and suggestions from more experienced modders. Things I too often see completely bypassed in favor of deconstructive criticism and bullying, as of late. This kind of stuff has lead to the modding scene becoming a lot less inviting over the past year or so, and it shouldn't be any surprise that me and other modders have distanced ourselves from the forums or left entirely. Those who remain often seem to get enjoyment out of the constant drama that occurs, and while I can't completely fault them for getting some king of enjoyment stuff like that, it just isn't for me. Not constantly at least. It is to be expected that people make crappy mods when they are learning. Nobody starts by making the Vivace or something. But the only way for people to learn is practice. Maybe this practice is modifying an official car into a new design like the Kashira, or maybe this practice is the oddly controversial practice of creating a "meshslap" and learning how to edit flexbodies, materials, and jbeam structures. But nobody learns without making a lot of crap first. For me, this involved a lot of questionable decisions on the Kashira that i later changed, culminating in the terribly unpolished Gen 1 Kashira. For others, this could mean making several "meshslaps" and slowly adding more complexity to them each time. Clearly, if someone is doing something wrong, kindly offer advice point them in the right direction. But I constantly see the default response to anything with subpar quality on these forums being to criticize the mod author with no intent to aid them in improving. I truly can't help but feel sorry for any new modders who come here in a similar situation to mine when I first started here, only to get bullied off the forums because they aren't already a perfect modder and posted a stretched Pessima "minivan" on a default jbeam. But all that aside, a hotfix is coming soon, with a couple of small goodies (as always). If anyone has any suggestions or feature requests, I'm open to ideas. Just don't expect too much since it is really just a hotfix.
It doesn't work for me anymore, since the new update it says there's an error with the mod and he car spawns but does nothing (no sounds, gears, movement, etc.)
Somehow the last game update (the tiny one not listed anywhere) fixed this car for me, anyone else can confirm or is it just me?
Will you make a gen 3 like a early 2000’s to a 2010’s Kashira? I know you said it’s not professional but I really like these and it’s so cool to see how u change it every gen
Its REALLY hard to make a new vehicle. A lot of people asked for this and I don`t think we will have one.
Thank you so much for this post. All these mods take so much time to build and I really do appreciate it deeply. The Kashira, by far, is my favourite mod of all. Too bad it stopped working with the new update but I am sure you will make it work again. Honestly, thank you so much for your hard work. Really!
The Kashira Gen 1 works and all the sounds --- Post updated --- SuperShep1 I like would like that BeamNG Needs some minivans
I can confirm that the latest hotfix does indeed fix the Kashira. Said hotfix might have brought some changes for the Driving Dynamics from 0.19 and 0.20 to be backwards compatible with 0.21 (which was the root cause according to Car_Killer), so no need to remove ESC from the parts selection menu anymore. I posted a screenshot of the mod in the Community Screenshots thread not too long ago to prove that point: But just because the mod finally works as of the latest hotfix doesn't mean it won't need another update. Some changes are necessary for 0.21 nevertheless, as Re:Z_IA mentioned. Though it's safe to assume that the Kashira won't be obsolete anytime soon.
Yeah it desperately needs an update anyway, can't rely only on backwards compatibility stuff forever anyway, I hope it can finally get proper ESC (current one is not very good)
Speaking of that, the Jbeam of all the accessories needs improvement, they frequently cause instability and it doesn't fit the shape on most of them
