I love how everyone agrees that we need four layers, my only question is which order the last two should be. Should it be brand, model, generation, config (my preference) or brand, model, config, generation (no I won't attack you for thinking this :) )?

I don't think a brand layer is good for the vehicle selector, the filters we already have cover that and it's good to be able to look at everythig in the first layer. Of course a career mode UI is a different story, but that's too far ahead to talk about right now.

I'd throw in every variation in the third layer. Facelifts, transmission, 4x4 for the trucks, etc.... Having it as a drop down menu would be even better, but there's no way to do that with the current UI. I'm really just proposing this as a temporary solution until we can get a fully new UI, though I don't know if this is possible on the current UI either.

We could have a UI that is basically like a new car website with a "build and price" tool. For example you can go to Chevrolet's website and select which vehicle, trim level, color, and optional extras. This wouldn't make much sense for used cars but I think it would be interesting.

I might be wrong, but I don't recall 2000 badges being available in configurator in previous versions of BeamNG. Perhaps smaller 6 cylinder or 4 cylinder model is coming in next update?

Those have been around since the I-Series was released, way back in July of 2016. Unfortunately, none of the ETKs have received any new engines since they were released. Don't expect anything from these badges - they're basically meaningless right now (as are the K/800's V8/V10/V12 badges).

Yes! I wish I could like this more than once haha
Some variation of that would be really nice too for the part selector UI/Garage.

Personally I'm really hoping that the UI for vehicles (and events?) will take some inspiration from Gran Turismo 4 or 6.
It's a really clean and simple interface.

I like this idea as going into the vehicle selector afterwards is a pain. My only problem is that I also don't want to do this every time, so I think that what we should do is have the three tier system (car, era, config) but then when you have a config selected, have the option to "Build Off This Config" This would then load a build and price type thing with the config's parts preselected.

I wonder if we get pickup dancing lowrider since we got so many good stuff for D-Serries. This would be great cherry on the cake.

As interesting as it would be, that's really more of the minitruck scene. I don't think I've ever seen that sort of hydraulic culture applied to a full sized, though I'm sure someone's tried it at some point.

Some standard lowrider parts wouldn't be out of place though. Airbag suspension and some flashy HD rims would fill the D-Series lowrider niche well

The 'Bagged Dually' has been a car-culture phenonmenon since the early 2000's (see this magazine article from 2003). It's a modification trend squarely within the years of the D-series now that there's a third facelift, and recently the trend has been creeping steadily outward and mid-eighties trucks are being used alongside current trucks.

We've got most of the parts needed to build a fairly common bagged dually in-game already. We have:
    • a rear roll pan
    • a choice of custom grilles and front bumper treatments
    • several late '90s / early '00s custom paint job
    • a fiberglass bed cover
    We would need:
    • Air springs (preferrably one regular option for cargo applications, one lowered option for the bagged dually)
    • Air control system with air compressor
    • large-diameter rims for the heavy-duty 8-lug hubs
    • low-profile tires for said rims

Lowrider pickup truck, cool idea! But I thought about this one:

Is this the better one? Looks more natural

Again, hydraulics are more of a minitruck thing. I guess there's nothing saying we can't put one on a 4300 pound full sized truck, but it's a lot less "natural" than the dually

Devs are going on break on the 30th - maybe there's time for one more hotfix this year?
