For those wondering about the CRD Monster truck

If you aren't aware by now, the mod was moved to a separate website for a multitude of reasons.
On December 23, at 8:00PM EST we will be releasing the official 2.0 version of the update, which implements a massive amount of new content. Over 14 new bodystyles and around 40 new skin presets. As well as new chassis/parts etc...

On top of that we are introducing new 4k skin textures around the board to enhance the realism aspect.

So... why pull it from the forums?

 

Ad revenue, or so they can drop their donation plug. I'm sure there's something that should prevent linking to another site for the download. It's more popular on the Multiplayer mod for BeamNG.

 

We pulled it from this site for multiple reasons. Reasons from groups being disabled to limitations with the repo due to copyright. I can go on and on about reasons why we left.

We use ads and donations to keep our website running, not to make a profit off of our community. You would be surprised how popular our mod is even without BeamMP. we have a large community with Discord, Youtube, Twitch and our website with our mod already garnering 44,000 downloads since we started our website around 6 months ago.

 

This is incorrect. Names like "Monster Jam" Or "Grave Digger" are copyrighted names. Those cannot be on a repo. And since the groups feature was removed, it was increasingly more difficult to find the Addon pack which had all the fun stuff in it for the mod.
Yes, ad revenue pays for the website in general. No we don't plug donations for profits. The mod is still free, and you can get it by just making an account.

 

Exactly what Bacon said, The forums stopped support of the groups so we couldn't do what we needed anymore, we wanted our own download section so we wouldn't clog Beams, we have dealt with copyright issues before.

We run ads and donations so we can pay for our site without having to come out of pocket. We had over 900k on here and are almost at 50k on our site with 2.0 coming out tomorrow. Just trying to spread the word we are still active and releasing content.

 

Don't get me wrong, the mod is great, the work is phenomenal, but you said it yourselves, there is the Ad revenue that seems more enticing than making it easier here on the forums. I've enjoyed this mod since I first seen it years ago, and it's gotten to a polished point. I understand why you guys did it. Keep up the good work for sure, Cheers.

I have already answered the question. Just because we require people to make an account on our site versus people not required to make an account here isn’t the reason why we pulled it from the forums.

Did the guy actually link it to a virus?

as much as i love the work put into the CRD, the thing i really hate the most is i gotta make an account on some 3rd party website just to access a vehicle mod? lol no thank you
ive been putting this off since it was pulled from this website, never got it again afterwards.
i already got so many freakin accounts on so many websites, im lazy and i cannot be bothered to create another one, just so i can download this mod.
what the hell does it change being able to download it without user anyways? at the end of the day the advertising is there, thats all that matters no?
anyways. dont need to make an account and never will. and there are other ways of acquiring this mod without needing an account.

wish yall the best of luck with the project, but please, remove the stupid account requirement. its useless and more of an annoyance then anything else.

 

Appreciate the feedback guys, and I ran a deepscan and found nothing; maybe it's an extension getting too comfortable, gonna remove a few in my browser. I use Edge because I got tired of Chrome, not sure if anyone else encountered this problem while using edge.
Still haven't downloaded it, would rather play it safe than sorry. Mod looks cool though.
