Re: Black Hills A desert world 1.2.1 The game just keeps crashing to desktop upon loading to it. I install the new version, read the readme and still crash to desktop.
Re: Black Hills A desert world 1.2.1 Hmm, this is turning out to be an unlucky day for me. It's easy to find problems when the same thing is happening. But, mixed result are occurring. Could both of you try downloading this mis file and placing it in the alpha_prerace/levels/blackhills folder? https://www.dropbox.com/s/qfbqkh8pd4cxjkh/blackhills.mis Aboroath, I am able to replicate your error on an older version of beamng. In the loading screan, does it say "loading datablock" in the lower right comer? If this is your problem, I would recommend running the updater. A portion of your game is probably not up to date. Creeper, unfortunately I can't seem to replicate your problem. So, let's hope the mis file above helps.
Re: Black Hills A desert world 1.2.1 Mine isn't letting me unzip it, it comes up with errors like ! C:\Users\Home\Downloads\blackhills1.2.1 (1).zip: Unexpected end of archive Any ideas?
Re: Black Hills A desert world 1.2.1 My slow internet might have corrupted something with the zip file during the upload process. You could try removing the (1) part of the filename and see if things are fixed.
Re: Black Hills A desert world 1.2.1 It happens with both, I tried re downloading it and that is where the (1) came from.
Re: Black Hills A desert world 1.2.1 Are you opening the file with the default windows thing or a third party program? Based upon your reply and some testing on my part, both of my earlier ideas have been disproved.
Re: Black Hills A desert world 1.2.1 This might be the problem. Could you try the following two methods? - right click and hit extract - double click and drag the zipped file's contents to another folder If neither of these methods work, you could try downloading 7zip and giving it a shot.
Re: Black Hills A desert world 1.2.1 Thank you guys very much for the explanations and suggestions. As soon as I get home from work I will look into this immeadiatley. Hang in there Ouerbacker! I use 7zip on all this and so far has worked flawlessly.
Re: Black Hills A desert world 1.2.1 Based upon dropbox's website, the company's servers are located in the US. You're in Australia. Some of the data might be getting corrupted between point a and point b. Later today, around 1-4am est, when nobody will yell at me for messing with the internet, I'll upload the file directly to this website.
Re: Black Hills A desert world 1.2.1 Good timing.....I should be enjoying a cup of tea around 1am PST.
Re: Black Hills A desert world 1.2.1 I got it to work, had to completely erase it from my downloads, and then re download it. Thanks for the help, I should have tried everything before complaining.
Re: Black Hills A desert world 1.2.1 Unfortunately, it still crashes, but not instantly, like 5 seconds into the loading it crashes. D:
Re: Black Hills A desert world 1.2.1 1st idea Under blackhills/art, there is a file called "datablocks." Right click and delete this file or move it to a directory outside of beamng. 2nd idea right click and delete blackhills_0_basetex, which is located under levels/blackhills. 3rd idea If the previous ideas don't work, could you try some other maps and see if any of them have a similar problem.
Re: Black Hills A desert world 1.2.1 Well after 2 hours of deleting, tweaking, downloading, updating, deleting again tweaking again and re-downloading again I have found that the main folder name "blackhills 1.2.1" causes the resource error. Once I renamed the file to just "blackhills" it works fine it's the latest version. I've had that issue before when tampering with vehicles or terrains. Interesting if anyone else has this problem and if not then I have some kind of nasty conflict going on.
Re: Black Hills A desert world 1.2.1 The folder that seems to be the main folder is just the file that I stuck blackhills in before zipping. In other words, its only purpose is to make it easier to to distinguish one version of blackhills from another. I guess I should have mentioned this. When you double click on the blackhills1.something file, there should be a file called blackhills within it. This is the file that should actually be drug into beamng's levels folder. On the first post of this thread, I have now clarified this.
Re: Black Hills A desert world 1.2.1 I took the contents of the latest update and put them in the original "blackhills" folder and then deleted any folders referencing "blackhills 1.2.1". It seems a total and complete separation of the two files is what beamng wants to see or the new update file needs to have absolutely everything in it referencing "blackhills 1.2.1", effectively making a whole new file. I think that's how other modders handle updates?
Re: Black Hills A desert world 1.2.1 Well. 1st idea: File was already not there. 2nd idea: Didn't work. 3rd idea: All other maps work fine. I did all 3 and still crashes at loading. Here is my computer specs, since it could be the computer: GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 CPU: AMD FX(tm)-4300 Quad-Core Processer Memory: 8.00GB RAM (2.96 Usable) Resolution: 1920 x 1080, 60Hz OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit.
Re: Black Hills A desert world 1.2.1 I'm pretty sure its not the computer. Your problem might have something to do with the directory that you put it in. When you double click on blackhills in the levels folder, does it look like this? If yours doesn't look like this, could you take a screenshot of it?
