To be at least somewhat mechanically accurate to real trucks (this is based off the Ford F Series that were made during the D Series run) it should be:
    • 1986-1991 OHV V8's and Inline 6
    • 1992-1997 OHV V8's and Inline 6
    • 1998-2003 V6 and OHC V8

Isn't it kinda weird how all the D-Series facelifts use the same engines with only intake/ECU/internals differences? Or is it normal?

So, H-Series got an offroad basket, why not have the same on Crew Cab? I think it would look great!

I think the Roamer does have a roof basket already though.

I'd say it's definitely odd as I'm pretty sure most trucks have different engine options, even if it's just one or two extra options from the standard V6.

you do know it’s not a carbon copy of the f series and is allowed to have differences?

It does, but it doesn't have access to the cargo options introduced in the hot fix

It's not long enough for that, I've checked.

It is a bit of a squeeze, lol

They could've easily gave it an "extra short" length, they did already give short/long variations for the short/long beds. As I mentioned in the Update Speculation Thread they really should've made a tiny one for the Pigeon too

On another note, I never noticed the LWB Roamer doesn't have a cargo basket

Both Chevrolet and Dodge were similar mechanically except Dodge and Chevrolet kept using pushrod V8's when Ford went with the Modular engines for the Tenth generation. Dodge and Chevrolet went towards V6 engines as the base engine in the early 90's (1993 for the Dodge and 1988 for the Chevrolet) while Ford used Inline sixes until the 10th generation.

Makes sense to follow real life examples as a way to ground BeamNG vehicles in reality at least a little bit.

It wasn't uncommon for American car companies to be using engine platforms for a long time with minor modifications for over 30 years.

Some gen 7/8/9 Fords did get a V6

    • 1982/83 American F-100 had the 3.8
    • 1986-1996 Mexican F-150's had the 3.8
    • In Brazil they put the 4.2 in the Superduties, as well as the diesel I-Blocks I mentioned earlier... Not sure why Brazilian superduties had such strange engine options for the superduties...

Did trucks from this era have automatic tailgates and such?

Of course not. Some trucks still don't have automatic tailgates.
