Pop-up bonnet is another money-milking engineering disguised as a safety feature. In crashworthiness testing, most vehicle rated G in pedestrian safety do NOT have any sort of pop-up bonnet, thus if someone got hit by a car rated G, the injuries are as low as pop-up bonnet. Also I heard of those driver's driving experience that the pop-up bonnet deployed upon rear-ending at 5km/h, upon hitting a wild cat, upon hitting a bird, upon hitting a stone blown up by a vehicle without a mudflap in front of them, or even deployed upon being kicked by a road-rager in the front bumper. In the above situation w/o Pop-up bonnet, the repair costs are zero(bumper within elastic deformation) or very little(repaint bumper). Then why people still buy those cars? The main reason is that most if not all people are completely unaware of the anti-feature upon purchase, until they get very frustrated after a very minor collision. Also there are those people, rich people living in a developed country whose family owns three or more vehicles, they may even feel good when a pedestrian was "saved" by pop-up bonnet after being hit, while completely ignoring the fact that other vehicle rated G in pedestrian safety would do the same. Front bumper and bonnet are designed and built in a way to lower injury/damage upon collision in most modern vehicles w/o those fancy pop-up bonnet, vote with out wallet, buy these vehicles instead.
Just moved to university. No more rental cars, community college, or binge drinking in my parents' basement. Seeing a nice variety of uni fleet vehicles around campus...maybe they need some help with those.
Found a sick new, wide open drift spot and still managed to find the ditch. Sliding sideways through gravel produces an awful, deafening sound.
Yesterday my truck left me stranded for the first time. The front driveshaft broke and destroyed the transfer case. It still drove fine, but it was pouring fluid out so I had to get it towed. So I guess that will be a week or two with no truck. And it’s my only plow truck. And it’s snowing right now. And there is a chance of snow everyday this week. I guess I will be doing a lot of shoveling.
True, but when your driveway is almost a mile long, that would take days to shovel the whole thing. Luckily my neighbor has a plow and he did it. The other stuff I have to do is not that bad to shovel. Some good news, I should have my truck back this week. It’s over my buddies shop, luckily he was not real busy and got it right in. He has it apart and it doesn’t look like there is any other damage. The parts should be here today, and he should have it back together tomorrow or Friday, providing he doesn’t find anymore damage when he takes it for a ride.
Aaaah right then, yes that would be a bit of a pain to shovel all that indeed, well it at least you know people, especially a mechanic Today i just hoped in the corolla and drove around with no where in mind to go, literally just go wherever. Well after driving on the highway for few hours i decide to go back home, so instead of just turning around, i went up some dirt track along the massive "Tingle" trees (or whatever there called). It was a nice scenic, slow drive around, but the last quarter or so was a steep down hill so i was on the brakes constantly. When i started getting this real strong, yet not so unpleasant smell i thought i was really cooking those brakes, so i chucked down a gear to use a bit more engine braking. The smell gets worse and overpowering but seeing as i was just about to hit the highway again i didn't think much of it because i stupidly thought it was the brakes. On the highway now i press my foot down, change up to third and look behind only to see nothing, the whole rear of the car was engulfed in white/blue smoke. Shit i thinks to me self, immediately turning off the engine and coasting off the road. Now originally i thought i would be the rings because this thing was eating half its oil every 1000km's, but no as a kindly stranger pulls up he immediately diagnoses a ruined headgasket. I was about an hours drive from anything. Welp had to wait four hours before one of my parents could show up to take me home, now seeing as i dont have insurance for this kind of thing i have to pay a heap to get the piece of shit to some mechanic that'll rip me off guaranteed. And because i cant drive anywhere i think i've lost my job too now. Buy a new car they say, it'll be reliable they say, it'll be cheap they say.... Last time i ever listen to some one else, honestly old cars are just better

FR is the most balanced because of 50:50 weight distribution. RR is more efficient than FF because lack of CV joint, but more weight on the rear worsen the handling, making the vehicle dangerously snappy. Thus FF is cheap, only slightly inefficient than RR but significantly efficient than FR, and have OK-ish handling. In terms of electric vehicle, RR is preferred because RR is the most energy efficient and since the battery is much heavier than electric motor, manufacture can move the battery to redistribute weight to improve handling. Most if not all electric vehicles with FF layout are electrified version of ICE econoboxes, not recommended to drive because of terrible handing.
Today I installed a rear strut tower brace from ZZP in the Regal. It has improved the handling and driveability a lot. The car feels very well balanced and extremely stable, even with the soft suspension. The body roll is reduced a lot too. I highly reccommend strut tower bars, the only downside is slightly less useable cargo storage.
Uuuuh what ? I think you are confusing rear wheel drive with "rear engine, rear wheel drive" --- Post updated --- Anything after '85 is new, and terrible. Except for the '96 Camry Coupe' with the V6 and 5 speed manual, only the coolest car of the '90s
