"Perhaps the most illuminating data comes from NHTSA fatality rates per million vehicles for 1975 and 1976. In the published chart, the Pinto is responsible for 298 deaths per million cars in 1975, making it on par with the Chevrolet Vega (288) and Datsun 510 (294), but considerably safer than the Datsun 1200/210 (392), the Toyota Corolla (333) and the VW Beetle (378). In 1976, the Pinto’s 322 deaths per million cars was slightly higher than the Chevrolet Vega (310) and AMC Gremlin (315), but better than the Datsun 510 (340), the Datsun 1200/210 (418) and the VW Beetle (370)."

Ford Pinto wasn't exactly the safest vehicle, but it was still considerably safer than other compact cars of its time.

Which they didn't own up to until they got lawsuits up the a, and all kinds of bad press.

Yeah, cause the little Rolling Bomb on Wheels is soooo misunderstood.

How were other compact cars of that time safer than this?

He actually quoted data showing it to be safer than the VW Bug by 30%. In 1975, for every 378 people per million Bugs that died, 298 people per million Pintos died. 80 people per million cars less... that's kinda big...

I suggest you read the article as well as his post, it really only has that "unsafe" reputation because of lawyers.

And don't forget the Datsun 1200 which killed 418 people per million cars in 1976 compared to Pinto's 322.

With that being said, let's try to keep this thread on topic.

That is actually a good trick for beggars. Make the unplayable mod and share it as WIP Beta :p
On the outside, looking good, but inside: As messy as Spaghetii
Or as an April Fools joke which is coming soon...

Or better: make some ultra complex LUA script that detects what website you downloaded it from and if it's not the forums then it explodes

I honestly think that would be a good mod idea. Maybe not for every config to do that but to have a config that explodes ok spawn

Or maybe a lore friendly pinto based vehicle. Call it Gavril Pony or something along those lines.

I think it could be a cool idea but not for this mod, it is based on config and new car

Some car with an engineering issue that makes it prone to more violent accidents would be fun as hell. A "Pre-recall" config of a car like the Roamer could roll over easily, etc.

I feel like a lore friendly Pinto should be a Bruckell for some reason
