Gentlemen, as most of you know, I built a custom PC a while back. (I am no longer selling it, I am now just going to upgrade it)

If you guys remember, I was using the stock cooler that came with the CPU, and it was getting very hot. I decided to install my Seidon 240m, so I did that, and now I am having this new issue. There is no display, no usb connection, and the power keeps cutting out. I did have a small bit of thermal paste go onto the mother board, but I wiped it off with my finger.

If any of you know how to fix this, please tell me.

The problem with things like this is that there can be so many things that are causing the problem. One of the more common problems is wires coming the slightest bit unplugged and you not realising, as well as unplugging them because they are in the way and forgetting to reconnect. I would check all your wiring, could you have accidentally unplugged the 8 pin at the top or anything when installing the new fan?

I build a friends computer with a Corsair H100 and forgot to put in the 8pin, it just keeps turning on and off again on an unlimited loop.

Should be easier to diagnose once the video is up.

Its been a while since I have built a pc, but when I had issues, I would just start pulling things out and trying it. If I got to the end, I pulled everything out, then installing the minimum to try it. Could be a short any where. Maybe its the cooler itself.

Start re-seating things like your GPU and your RAM. Try testing you motherboard with any spare equipment you may have laying around, Power Supplies, Processors, spare GPUs and RAM. If the problem persists, consider replacing your motherboard or any components that have failed testing.

Looks like your PSU may be malfunctioning or not providing enough power. I had a similar issue and that's what it turned out to be.

The motherboard has an inbuilt LED display "Dr. Debug" for a reason, it's handy for debugging things like this. You've got error 55.
Check your motherboard manual, on page 40.

    • 55 - The Memory could not be detected. Please re-install the memory and CPU. If the problem still exists, please install only one memory module or try using other memory modules.

THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH! YOU ARE A GREAT GUY! :D

"so whatd you do to fix it? :p remove cpu/ram and retry?" - DrowsySam

"I first removed the CPU, made sure that was in properly, I then decided to move my RAM sticks, then my dad made sure they were in properly, apparently, they weren't, so he pushed them fully in. So when I installed the Cooler, I removed the ram, and obviously didn't put it back correctly." - pf12351
