0.22 Userfolder Path Changes

    I have a problem...
    With new update, i can't find my old screenshots and my mods folder (downloaded by internet).
    Where i can find them? And what do i have to do with Cache 0.21.4.0 folder? Do i have to eliminate it?
    I'm gonna be crazy ='(

    Am I the only one who had this problem where the user folder contents (mods, settings, etc.) did not migrate after updating to the recent hotfix 0.22.0.1, but the contents did migrate before in the 0.22.0.0 update?

    I don't understand why you want to make the user folder "C:\Users\<YourName>\AppData\Local\BeamNG.drive"? It's WAY more difficult to manage user data than "Documents" folder. Not only the "AppData" is hidden by Windows default settings, but also more clicks are required to navigate through these folders.

    All my mods are broken. I’ve cleared cache, I’ve verified, everything works in safe mode, but my modes are now “corrupt” when they worked yesterday.

    The change in location is needlessly complicating things, and all because some AVs were upset? AV interference is a know problem and uprooting everyone else for this simple to fix issue is aggravating. I love the game and everything the devs do. You guys are so dedicated but I don’t know what to do from here...

    We don't want to, we are forced to do so by Windows...
    In a default Windows installation the documents folder is synced to Microsoft via OneDrive, this is causing us massive headaches and breaks things left and right. In addition to that, AVs consider big changes in /documents as ransomware and block it.

    OneDrive is stupid, but you can configure it to ignore folders of ones choosing. OneDrive has little storage so I’ve eliminated documents from it because other games and folders filled it far before Beam has.

    Why do mods corrupt though after this update? Does moving really disturb them that much, or is it missing files no longer in the higher up folders?

    Where's the cache folder? Renamed to "temp" folder?

    lol like actually?? god windows is garbage when you don't tie it up like a medieval torturer.

    why do these things even need to be stored outside of the beamng game folder anyway?

    Because unfortunately with normal user rights you have no write access in C:\ProgramFiles...

    Ok, so it wasn't working, so I copy and pasted EVERYTHING from the old user folder to the new one, and replaced files and whatever, then i just messed it up, now I keep getting this message when I try to launch the launcher, somebody, please, please help me! I want to play this magical game again!

    My game fails to create folders for mod vehicle textures in the vehicle folkder. Its like it doesnt have permission. Mods seem fine so far though.

    can you please let me know if you have received confirmation as to whether this is the right way to do it or not? also, after you copy pasted everything from the old folder to the new one, does everything work correctly?

    So you guys migrated my data twice in 24 hours? I have about 900+ mods downloaded, of which I like to keep around 200 activated, and I wasn't even finished reactivating those the first time before another update downloads and it insists on migrating everything AGAIN. I can't keep going through these and manually activating them every time you release an update. This never happened before, I can understand it happening once with a big enough update like yesterday's, but it just now did it AGAIN for a relatively tiny fix? I can't see myself continuing to play BeamNG.drive if you're going to keep messing up my settings of which mods are active and inactive during every single update from now on. There has to be some way of saving the active/inactive status of my mods so I don't have to keep going through the whole list and reactivating each one manually.

    Sorry about that, we'll improve the logic in the next hotfixes. As in 0.22 folder for all hotfixes combined :(
    We'll look at the activation thing and add another system that does not overwrite the enable/disable as well.
    Sorry again for the problems :/

    yes, but you can't set user write access to the beamng install folder? or, you "can't" :^)
