I have one and I find it really difficult especially at low speed manoeuvres

This is a very cool looking mod with a lot of work put into it and I really like it ! But unfortunately it's still undriveable :/
I'm a RL biker myself, I wish I had more time to look for possible solutions and offer some help... I think someone needs to come up with a very simplified jbeam that really works and then it could be build up while preserving the equilibrium. I'm hopeful, sooner or later we will have a decent motorcycle jbeam :)

    Hello CRGZ,

first of all many compliments for your work, you implemented a lof of features!!!! I am working on BeamNG bikes since some months both from a completely new bike from scratch and on optimizieng the hystorical Suzuki GSXR done by Darren9, and in both case the physics are a pain. The most difficult issue I am finding is stopping the steer to sway left and right at high speeds.

I can see that you reused the same LUA script for the steer of the SP bike that after becomes the Suzuki GSXR. It is based on Proportional-Integrative-Derivative (PID), I found that there are better algorithms that limit the overshoot but I haven't implemented yet and I am instead trying to increase damp and stiffness of the steer to limit the sway, but this also causes a slower steer. The tradeoff is hard to be found.

Let me laugh when I saw how you implemented the wheeling function by pushing a sort of frame to the ground that lifts the bike!!!! ;) don't get me bad, I know how hard is this to be implemented. I used another trick that is an extra frame on the tail with 20Kg of weight. When I give a hit on the clutch the wheelie is guarantee and it is more realistic. See the result here =>

Thank you for the comments Tony. Yes creating a bike in game is absolutely a mess and tormenting to do and say that there are definitely better bike modders than me. The PID algorithm I reused was the only one I found to have worked, no well though. The overshooting issue is definitely the biggest issue on this bike. A new algorithm is definitely needed to better this mod, though with the knowledge I have, I don't think I can find/create one.

The wheelie function is quite weird, though I got the idea from the KITT automation mod. It worked but not realistic as you said. I'd love to know more in detail how you implemented the extra tail frame. I have my Discord ID in the description if you'd like to contact me there. Thank you once again :)

what do wheel users have to do when starting out? just asking since I am a wheel user myself.

Should be the same as keyboard. Easy throttle, easy steering with the wheel. The steering rate has been drastically lowered to suffice for the lack of handling.

General guide to steering guys, countersteering is how motorcycles work at any appreciable speed. That means on gamepad and wheels when you make an input, the forks turn in the opposite direction you want to turn in. By turning the wheel left, the forks turn right, and the bike leans to the left*. Setting deadzones or shallowing response curves may help out people having trouble keeping the bike upright.

Another thing, while turning, keep on the throttle, even if you're just maintaining speed, the act of pushing power to the wheel generates centripetal energy, which helps keep the bike balanced in the turn. Slowing down consumes that energy, leading to instability (either gonna lowside or highside).

In real life our bodily senses act to keep the bike in equilibrium, in-game we don't get that sort of feedback.

Bikes are physics nightmares, quite honestly. The smallest imbalance or lack of dampening in your steering and irl you'll get those same death wobbles. Cars are nice and planted on all four (or three), the physics behind bikes are a lot more complicated, the smallest bit of lean angle can be the difference between making a corner and eating guardrail, I'm not surprised a "raw" motorcycle is hard to ride in Beam.

The old mod worked very similarly, and it just takes a little practice, a lot of patience, and a steady hand to get the muscle memory down.

    * Edit; clarified and corrected my countersteering explanation in relation to the mod.

invert steering because right know a makes you go the d should and d makes you go the way a should unless this is a motocycle thing

if I do light steering, it cant really turn, if i have to turn to switch lanes, i practically do alot of S-turns to go straight.
