Hey! No problem! That's what I'm here for!

(I'm not a Dick when people are smart.)

By the way, thank you for capitalizing "Dick". Made me feel good about myself.

This is a friendly community forum, not Reddit, nor a prestigious organization that requires perfection in writing, else you'll be frowned upon. Instead of insulting me, you could've simply approved or disapproved my contribution to this thread, but no, you simply can't do this as you are radical and must be respected in your own little world for the magnificent work you do as a teacher.

I will not argue any further.

I couldn't approve/disapprove of it because I couldn't freaking read it. But, you seem to have welcomed simple punctuation into your life, so I shall leave it be.

As much as I dislike the new Mustang, it isn't any less American than it was before. It's just that people worldwide are starting to prefer the look of European cars. They're just making it appeal to the new trend.

...So, I asked my friends this question and they said its because they're so big, and that its hard to judge where the front or back of the car is as compared to a Citroen or a Renault.

Well It ruins the heritage of the mustang. If ford wants to appeal to a trend, in my opinion, Design a new model don't completely destroy something that was pretty good. It's just me but I think the 2015 Mustang is ugliest Mustang since the 1974 second gen Mustang.

Yeah, it ruins what the Mustang is supposed to be in my opinion. It's closer to a European sports car than it is a muscle car. The new trend is that everyone, including a large percentage of Americans, simply like the look of European cars. They had to destroy the amazing 2005+ body style for the sake of making it sell better. People are just adapting to the sleek and swift look rather than the American muscle look. I don't personally think that the 2015 Mustang is "ugly" exactly, but it doesn't look like a Mustang. If you had no previous knowledge of the new Mustang and it pulled up right next to you, you wouldn't even remotely think that it's a Mustang.

    Wikipedia:
Petroleum (L. petroleum, from early 15c. "petroleum, rock oil" (mid-14c. in Anglo-French), from Medieval Latin petroleum, from Latin petra rock(see petrous) +Latin: oleum oil (see oil (n.)). [SUP][1][/SUP][SUP][2][/SUP][SUP][3][/SUP]) is a naturally occurring, yellow-to-black liquid found in geologic formations beneath the Earth's surface, which is commonly refined into various types of fuels. It consists of hydrocarbons of various molecular weights and other liquid organic compounds.

Yep, because we totally hate Japanese and korean cars [/sarcasm]

Hate is totally the wrong word, I think its more of a preference than an actual hatred of American cars. We don't see a mustang and instantly despise its design, cause frankly they look pretty damn good. We just have other designs that we prefer, while the US may use a pickup truck in the UK either a van or land rover style 4x4 would be used. You can just lift the roof from a defender and it becomes a pickup truck anyway.

I really dont think that there is actually much of an issue here. Most people i know couldnt give a damn. As long as its comfy, economical, has seats, 4 wheels, good safety and a roof they are quite pleased. Its more a case of there not being that many dealers and taking the Chevy volt as an example, there was already a lot of competition in the cheap small car market, kia and hyundai can either build cars for less money or take a lower margin. Hence the picanto and i10 are pretty popular in the super cheap super and small car market.

There are American cars which appeal to Europeans, the types most people are enthousiastic for are mostly muscle cars (both old and new), old 50s and 60s modells, and some people may like trucks as wel.
But with gas costing $8,70 per gallon (cheapest gas station in my neighbourhood) and additional $75000 tax based on CO2 emission for the new Mustang V8 in the Netherlands you can imagine that driving such cars in Europe (and especially in the Netherlands) is just for the happy few.
In the late '70s up to the last decade there where a lot of models that we saw as ugly cube like or bloby things with the handling of a curling stone on ice (because in Europe the accent was always sporty handling rather than a flying carpet like ride, although there were exceptions like older Citroens DS and CX for instance)
But these days I see far less differences between US and European cars because a lot of manufacturers have alliances and design is often in one hand.
There are even models built for America and Europe, like Ford Focus and a new small Jeep that will also be sold in Europe by Fiat with a different styled body, Jeep using Fiat engines as well for their own model.

So we can say that today smaller American cars (mostly 4 cylinder) are used as daily driver as well in Europe, some people who have businness in landscaping, roofing and construction drive also big trucks (because of materials and trailers to move, registered on the company which will save a lot of taxes and enables them to drive on cheaper diesel without the higher road tax charged for diesel cars) and old American (muscle) cars as hobby objects which will only run maybe 1500 miles a year because of the fuel costs involved (and cars younger than 40 years still have to pay road tax!)

A last point which is still a fact today is that materials for the interior and also quality of fabrication is behind European brands, American engines being almost bomb proof in most cases (because most engines don't exceed 60hp/liter displacement), you get a lot of options, but it is all hard plastics and wide gaps etc., only very recently we see some American cars catching up with European brands on these points.
So did Chrysler cars (Neon, Voyager and PT cruiser) have a bad reputation for reliabillity inthe car press in the late 1990's/early 2000's, due to poor quality control.

Calling bullshit on America on grounds of a strong dollar and that the 2015 Mustang V6 starts at $22000 fricken USD. That's second hand Accord money, Britbongs and fellow Ausfailians!

    One man's trash I suppose.
You see it as a nice car. I see it as a generic uninspired sports car that looks nothing like a Mustang should.
