Update Speculation thread

Ah yes, Peugeot 405 as a riced out taxi back in the 1990s

 

So I looked at the calendar, and the 3rd of August (Beamng will turn 8 years then) is Tuesday, so there is a chance that the update will be released then.
Small speculation from me

 

I just realised I forgot to update my update speculation spreadsheet so here it is :

 

Given that March was a little early this year, I think Jakux is spot on with his early August expectation, but if the devs are reading this, I expect early July at the latest

 

In july???

 

I make my estimation by adding the average time span between update to the last major update date, nothing more than this simple calculation is involved to get the date estimation

 

We haven't gotten a new map in a while...

Or we could have this thing in walk mode, where you can like, pick stuff up without using the nodegrabber, some sort of thing like in FS19 if anyone knows what I'm talking about.

As for a map, I'm thinking a Alaska based map would be cool. We have City, Country, Desert, Italy, anyone else on my thought path?

 

I doubt we'll be getting another American map anytime soon just given how the vast majority of maps are American.

 

America's a big place with an unusual amount of geographical diversity - no other country has quite the same span of inhabited terrain.

Non-USA:
ETK DEC

There are 3x more "real world" maps set in the United States than ones in any other country.

 

What about a Canadian or Russian map?

 

They're non-American, so it would be more variety. Canada would be fine as long as it's not the east coast, which would be a bit too similar to ECA. Do note that a snowy map could be set in a lot more places than just traditionally "snowy" countries.

 

Rocky Mountains?

 

Speaking of this, there's not a hint of a map with snow in sight.

 

Imo we have more than enough North American maps at the moment. Pretty much every other continent is underrepresented.

 

I mean, they could do a map based on the Alps (Switzerland, Germany, Italy borders) or I think this is less likely but still possible, a map based on the Himalayas (Nepal, northeast India and I’m not sure what other countries, since that would technically count as an asian map

 

I am pretty much sure the next few maps won´t be in America. We have no Asian or African maps, so these will probably come first. Also, I doubt we are going to get a map set in the Arctic/Antarctica, as there are no roads there. If we would get another 5 maps, they would come in this order (in my opinion):
Japan (Asia)
Egypt (Africa)
Finland (Europe)
India (Asia)
Russia (Europe/Asia)
+ ETKDEC remaster - basically a whole new German map

 

My predictions are more like this:
ETK DEC remake (Germany)
Japanese map
French map
UK map
Australian map
Russian map

I'm really unsure about the latter two, but the former four seem like very likely locations to me.

 

Don’t forget a French map because we have Cherrier and gendarmerie cars without a country.
