Beamng drive only gets 3 updates per year. Usually... one in April, one in august, and a final update in December. In my opinion, the game gets a bit stale after a few months. Especially when there are no mods out. Also, usually, each update will get 3 to 4 hotfixes. These are mostly in the first couple weeks. It could be a month or two before another update, which causes small and medium bugs to stick around longer. The beamng devs are usually pretty good about fixing bugs, which is nice, but i think that more updates will make the game feel fresher for longer.
Bruh you think making a game is so easy?! Releasing 3 or 4 updates in a year is so hard and you want even more updates?
Longer between updates=more changes which is what has historically been the case, giving us all the crazy detailed simulaitons from physics, to driveline and what not in between. As much as i can appreciate smaller, quicker, DLC type updates i have no problem with the current schedules since BeamNG isnt youre regular easy-cash product. Maybe, to keep some users happy there could be a focus on DLC-type stuff in between the larger updates. Now, i see that youre quite new, about a ayear membership, whcih mens youve got one cycle of updates while manny has been around longer so the perspective is of course different.
This is a, dare I say, state of the art driving game with real time destruction. Each car the devs make has an entirely custom j-beam, body, and unique configs. Suffice to say, big updates take a long time, so I don't think they can really even push updates out faster, unless they sacrifice some quality. Also, maps take a while to make since they are equally complicated with AI pathing and missions. Also if you want stuff to come back to, try checking out the extensive, albeit toxic modding community.
i’ve actually had this game for about 3 or 4 years. now that you bring that into perspective it does make more sense.
Just realized i cant spell, atleast not in my first post lol. Id of course appreciate more updates too but trying to suppress those feelings. Id really like to see some changes to the gfx engine more than content at this point cause its ino one of the bigger things holding bng back a bit.
I think Geometry Dash is the worst game in terms of updates, there has been no update for OVER 4 YEARS, even critical bugs like the leaderboards system literally not working at all have been unfixed since then, the security is extremely outdated and terrible (passwords are stored unencrypted unhashed as plain text in the player save files along with all the other account info, whenever the server database gets leaked which sometimes happens then basically anyone can hack anyone and know their email), the performance used to be decent for the standards back then but now it's unacceptable (game crashes when clicking out of the game window due to lag), the only "content" the players have been getting for 4 years is news about the new update, it has gotten to the point where multiple people have tried remaking the entire game from scratch and adding the update themselves and some of these attempts were quite succesful... Try to name any game more outdated than this (aside from the games not being actively worked on anymore), I'll wait.
When I was saying "this can be adapted to 95% of the game industry", I meant that 95% of the game industry is worse in term of updates than beamng, but as a geometry dash player myself, I can trully feel your pain
