Looks really good! New textures/models looks awesome as well makes me wonder if there is going to be any changes to dirt/tire smoke.. Just thought of different it´s going to look.
Darn. I was able to convince myself I didn't need a new video card, and I was perfectly happy with my current one. Now I really, really want a new one. Here goes the hunt for a 3090 now.
I think he staff picked that because it was a good question nobody else has asked for whatever reason, when does it update!
Well it is for really good posts, but I guess Diamondback saw the post and laughed hard, so he gave the award for the funny comment. Basically a special button that is like the Like rating, but for the Devs and way rarer.
The lighting still feels...off to me. I think the sunlight is too dark and the shadows are too light. Like there's not enough contrast between sunlit areas and shadows.
I would say so, PBR is necessary for that. ALSO.. Its based on Torque3D which has GI in its latest Beta release, BeamNG gfx guy Luis is a member of the T3D board afaik so theres alot of reason why T3D having GI means, in my head, good things for the possibility for BeamNG having it too. I was actually sent a work in progress PostFx GI a while back for personal use and experimenting, for T3D which could hopefully be implementable in BeamNG, reached out topthe devs about that but didnt receive an answer, makes sense now lol Also, one of the devs commented about it here: https://twitter.com/estama2/status/1261656886111322113 This.. Need a completely new computer now. BeamNG is literally the only reason im looking at building a newer one. You havent tried it yet though so hold on. I can see what you mean but if it is like it looks its to not loose detail in the shadows. The game engine PostFx has Brightness Adaption which would ideally solve this (been broken since day one in 2013 though i believe? My guess is its just the PostFx values for that, that is too sensitive/too high increments), since all other options will effect this all the time, making the game overall too dark when youre completely in shadow/ambient diffuse lighting and too bright when youre in the sunlight. Its a constant struggle with my gfx mod, i can tell you that The vid mentions changed lighting in Ultra sewttings so that might do some very nice things (hoping its GI'ish but i dont have my hopes up that high for now )
This is good to see, even if it is a while off. It's nice to see that it's on their radar at least. I believe that most complaints people have over the dated look BeamNG suffers from is mostly down the materials and lighting. The shadows are pretty low quality and the ambient occlusion always looked off to me, like the underneath of a vehicle looking way too bright, or things looking like they're floating or not connected to the ground properly. Looks like they're about to sort the materials, but the game will truly look incredible once the lighting gets that feature. It'll fix all those visual problems. The mesh quality and overall detail on the models is already really good.
Because of recent announcements concerning backwards compatibility with older cards and cross compatibility between AMD/Nvidia bringing it to people's attention, and it'll allow people to run the game at higher framerates.
