Update Speculation thread

I wouldn't be surprised if the Wigeon doesn't come in 0.23, as we haven't even seen it in game yet. There is also the possibility of the JRI Japan theory being true and it being bundled with the Wigeon in 0.24.

 

Not only does the Barstow hood look like a real piece of metal, the houses in the background look more real too! This PBR update is looking awesome!

 

GM looks there awesome as well. I like the windows a lot

 

if this is close then this might be not this week unless PBR is done

 

You did miss time of the day setting, sun's position is quite different which makes lighting completely different.

 

Yeah, I tried to match that too but just couldn't get it right

Overall difference with PBR seem to quite small to my eyes, sure there is difference, but hype is huge compared to actual difference I'm seeing.

Then again, my eyes are not the best anymore, I can't even see if AA is on on or off, so maybe you with better eyes see things in different light. Although cars seem to have more clearcoat which is nice, also there is tiny difference how normal maps are working, their effect seem to be slightly stronger.

Anyway, I am spotting lot of differences with these comparisons to situation we are trying to compare to, probably mine is off too, but I think I got correct cars, minus few on background which I omitted on purpose:

Traffic cars now obey traffic lights. The video says that it's only on ECA for this update, I'd assume future updates would support additional maps.

It also had an "insert here" for the dev blog link.

 

That's the old cryengine Bolide from 2012, not the PBR from Torque3D in 2021.

I have video downloaded and it did not say that such feature would be in next update.

However it was called traffic light preview and it did say available in East Coast USA, but did not specify that would be on this update.

Of course it is likely that available means this update and maybe video just was leaked bit too soon, maybe they have not decided yet to include the feature, but were planning if there is no problems with it.

Still it did reveal indeed what they have been working on.

Also I think that video might be remade if they spot some quality issue with it.

One thing that for me looks bit odd is where this yellow Hopper is standing at traffic lights:

That is same spot there was yellow GM later on video, but is it common to have such traffic arragement in East Coast of USA?
You stop right after the intersection there, it does look bit odd to me at least.

So maybe that is something they were not happy with?
