I hated when that happened last time and I hoped that was a one time thing with the partnership. I really don't want to see it again. I like seeing the update for myself when it releases rather than having it spoiled by YouTubers.
they don't have any sort of NDA that blocks them from talking about the update before the public release ? If not that would be very weird and indeed, pretty frustrating to get the update spoiled by youtubers
That's exactly what happened with 0.13. They released the update early to YouTubers who spoiled literally everything including the unannounced audio improvements. The community is the reason the game exists today, not a handful of "content creators". It is completely unfair to prioritize the latter.
Honestly I don't see the problem of giving the update one day or two before the public to youtubers, so they can record their traditional update video before the official release. But they shouldn't be allowed to release their video before the public release
It's new, but old as well, as it is a song from 2009 that hasn't been posted. At this point it's just a waiting game to see when tdev logs in and posts The Final Countdown.
Preview is more for games that releases paid dlcs like for example CA with Total War titles. It helps with marketing the dlc to show people what they are actually buying. I don't think beamNG needs this as it is free update.
I don't see the point in giving them special privileges at all. They mostly just make money off community made content and mods and very little of that money goes back to those who actually put the effort in (modders).
I think some youtubers deserve to get the update early, others don't. You probably can guess who is which kind.
Community contributers are an important part of any game community. I'm 100% in support of whatever community outreach BeamNG feels is necessary, even if I'm not the target audience for most of the Youtubers. The honest fact is the number of casual fans who sometimes peak at Youtube/Reddit/Twitter is magnitudes larger than the handful of us here on the forums.
So... update postponed for however long it takes MuYe to make a video Yeah that's not fair to us, we can wait for youtube content
On the other side, they do promote the game a lot, which is just good for the game. Or review it, find bugs and make them visible. Making GOOD videos takes a lot of time too.
The ones who spoil obviously don't deserve it, they would do it just for views and not to promote the game or anything. But I can tell there are some who would wait until the release and then make the video.
