Shortly after the announcement of the new Toyota GR86, big name aftermarket companies got their hands on some of them and developed parts for it. Is there a chance that could happen with a future vehicle that gets added to the game? A couple of the best community rated modders get their hands on the vehicle to model parts for the car before the rest of the community knows about it to be released with it as official content?
mmm, probably not. if any modders make content to a good enough standard, they usually get offered a position to work as a developer for beamng officially.
Zoll is right, it called staff pick. If you make a dev-quality mod, devs will rate your post staff pick (like when you like/agree a post). Next you can be a Beamng member. A dev-quality mod is a mod like Man TGS Euro 6 and in that case Nadeox1 rated the post staff pick and the mod author joined the Beamng team. Btw, some times when you receive a staff pick, your mod will be added to game like World editor v2. But sometimes it will not happen like Man TGS euro 6 mod that haven't been added to the base game.
A staff pick is just an extra rating that staff members can give to a forum post that stands out from the others, it does not mean that if you get a staff pick, you will become a developer, that's just not true. Also, the World Editor V2 was not a mod.
Wasn't this a mod? https://www.beamng.com/threads/world-editor-2-0.61035/ I thought it's a mod because he got a staff pick when he posted that thread, and he has only 1 staff pick. So I thought he wasn't a dev before that post, and he joined beamng team after that post. Also why staff pick doesn't mean you'll be a beamng member if you want? "Staff" means personnel, and "pick" means choice. And personnel of the beamng, are beamng members. So, Staff Pick means choice a competent man (and you're that competent man if you get a staff pick) to hire him.
No, that world editor thread was made by a dev. Also, "Staff Pick" means "Staff's Pick", it means it's a special post that the "staff" (i.e. a member of the beamng development team) decided to "pick" to remind other members that said post was special. It's a post pick, not a member pick. You can't become a staff member by getting a staff pick. I've got 3 so far, and if I could've become a developer by having them then I would've already done it.
The MAN is not really dev quality, I mean the model obviously isn't scratch made and there are hundreds of small bugs with textures and Jbeam. It's still really high quality but there are some mods better than it.
There isn't really a large aftermarket for those cars that I'm aware of, but an endurance race version and a social media clout version of some late 2010s Civetta would appeal to both ends of the maturity spectrum here. Lol
