I'd like to know this too, althoughi suspect it'll be great with 1 or 2 cars, then fall flat when it comes to more vehicles than that. Shame, i wish they'd make an unlocked i3 with hyperthreading.
Just got this. Running my FX-8320 at 4.4GHz and 1.5v. Just a couple more max Mbeam/s and I'll have beaten Dalek and his snooty i5. (I dunno why I got more than when I was running 4.5GHz, though that was a quick and dirty overclock.)
Maybe you have a higher HTT clock now? I also used to get better results @3.75 GHz (15x250) than @4.0 GHz (20x200). BTW, you finally beat my score!
Dont forget me and my snooty i5. Another 1Mbeam/s and you'll have me beat at 4.3Ghz. That's some nice perf/$. I need to upgrade to a 4790k though. 4.4Ghz stock boost on 4c/8t. Mmmm.
I did increase the HT link speed a bit.. Nevermind. For some reason the HT link and stuff is at stock speeds..
Why would you go 4670k? The 4690k has much higher stock clocks and runs cooler. The 4790k is faster in Ghz than the fastest mine will go.
$$$ Although I personally dont define 100MHz as "much higher" and so far I havent seen any proof of it running any cooler than the 4670K, its more efficient thermal transfer design spreads the heat over a larger portion of the chips surface area whereas the previous gen concentrated it on 1 spot, it doesnt necessarily allow it to dissipate heat much faster and it actually has more heat to dissipate (if only 4W). The review I saw only had it running 1C lower than a 4670K. However, it seems actually they are around the same price anyway which just cements the choice of 4690K. That is unless of course you mistook for the 4790K which is 4.0ghz which is a much higher clock speed. But otherwise, 4670 3.4ghz vs 4690 3.5ghz is little difference.
From what I've seen the refresh performs much better when pushed to their limits. 1.4v and AVX no longer throttled on a custom loop IIRC over at overclockers. I thought the 4690k had much higher bins than the 4670k did but that seems to only be with the 4790k.
Speaking of money, why bother with the unlocked one? The 4690 is fast as hell anyway and 3.5 Ghz is pretty high anyway so for the $20 more for the unlocked one I don't think it's worth it. Not only that, as much as it runs 40c with a stock cooler Haswells are notorious for running hot, and without liquid cooling you won't be able to significantly over clock to make up the money you payed to overclock TL DR get the 4690, but it's fast enough stock so don't bother with the K version unless you have a massive cooling setup. If you want performance the i7 is the better choice Just my opinion
erm, I was saying the i5 4690 is a great CPU but it's not worth your money to get the unlocked one (i5 4690k)
That, ladies and gentlemen, is why I positively hate the iPhone keyboard. I MEANT $20 Sorry for posting so much
