There is an article on Car Throttle about BeamNG. I'll let you guys read it yourselves. http://www.carthrottle.com/beamng-drive-raises-car-game-physics-to-insane-new-levels/
There were a couple of things off (there are no official missions or objectives, the GPU is irrelevant to how the physics work), but I'm glad to see BeamNG getting better press.
Soooo many things wrong with this comment. BeamNG has different people, vastly superior physics, and far better graphics and feel. RoR is still soft-body, but many mods do not take advantage of this. It's a decent alternative, though BNG would be worth it if it were $50. It has more cars because it's been going longer, not because it's open source. And .38 is definitely not the latest (99% sure, I don't really follow RoR anymore).
Will it run on my moms pentium iii computer? its probablbly like 5ghz. its al i haz. i thinkz it have 256ish mb vidoe card!!! that was painful to type
The article was ok. But most of the comments... The people with the tech demo also don't realize that Drive has a better driving model, and stuff now... And NCG has floating tires (not attached to the car; at least in the tech demo) and poorish soft body physics from my point of view. Drive has many more parts of the car simulated. (Like an actual suspension! vs. floating tires...) Those comments make my head hurt...
i already am yelling at these people, i started yesterday, as the first thing i noticed was how horribly wrong a lot of the comments are.
the comments are stupid in that article beamng doesnt use the same physics as next car game because beamng uses real time rigid body nodes
A guy on that article said "Next car game isn't rigid body because the cars deform" I facepalmed so hard my hand went through my skull and created a wormhole to another dimension.
Exactly the same people actually, physics are better in beamng but it lacks in a lot of areas suspension, commands, etc but that's to be expected from and alpha. Graphics too although I don't actually care about those too much the easier modablity is the main reason to get BeamNG. As for "feel" RoR was much better, solid non floaty camera mouse smoothing that I despise in BeamNG and the ability to use the mouse to drag the vehicles is a great feature that I miss. Other wise though you're totally right.
I thought RoR was originally developed by different people, but Gabe Tdev estama and LJFHutch were major mod developers.
Yep. A fellow named Pirocorde (IIRC) started it in like 2006 and then tdev and estima became coders for it (kinda like modders with it being open-source) and Hutch and garblaster were modders.
