I want to see the physical reaction of a car, when a human/mannequin falls on a car roof.

I've been wanting to do pedestrian safety tests for ages. Or was that to set up a bunch of crash test dummies and see what the real result of smashing through a crowd in a car would be. Perhaps someone would create those dummies in the future.

If you really wanna know what it does to a car when you smash through a crowd of people, there was an attack on Queensday in the Netherlands a few years ago where some idiot tried to kill our queen by ramming the Royal bus with his Suzuki Swift, and plowed through a crowd of people before failing to do so... His car was completely eff'ed up after hitting the people and instead rammed into a statue instead. If you got a strong heart and want to see it, search for Queensday Apeldoorn on Youtube and you should be able to find it, but like I said, be warned: Something like 7 people died there and there's a lot of gore, it's not pretty.

That said, I think it would be sorta funny in-game to have a bunch of objects we can drop on cars or drive cars into, but I think it's better if the community will make this sort of stuff, rather than the devs. Should be easy to build stuff like that if you just get roughly the right weight and dimensions anyway. I remember on Top Gear or somethign they dropped a huge canvas balloon full of water onto some Ford... Thing was flattened :p

Perhaps we could have a mannequin inside the car in any of the seats or even in the boot.

What a disgusting individual, risking the lives of people in that way. It really is unfortunate that he got things wrong in that manner. However it looks like cars aren't as robust when hitting people as I assumed. I would have expected more damage to the front but it looks like people get deflected onto the roof of the car and kill the driver. Interesting stuff.

The style of the latest Civic has a lot to do with hitting people... what I mean to say is, it looks the way it does because they designed the front bumper to deflect pedestrians up/over instead of under.

Also +1 to smashing into dummies and crowds of dummies... great idea!!!

He is saying it is a good idea into a game. Not this one of course.

Ragdolls/dummies would be awesome, hopefully possible.

    This would totally be cool.
Like being able to spawn either instant ragdolls or "solid-until-touched" ragdolls so you can line them up and crash test it that way.
It would also be really neat to be able to place one of these ragdolls into the cockpit of any vehicle and attach the hands to the steering wheel and then drive off and crash, allowing us to crash test the personal safety of a car.

He also hit a few fences and objects, but yeah, the car was pretty much totalled after his idiotic rampage.
Damn, I remember seeing it live on TV, I just couldn't believe what happened...

Anyway, I do like the idea of putting stiff-until-contact-dummies, it could be interesting to see (in a sience/testing kind of way), but ONLY if the dummies don't look too much like actual people (for example: completly 1 color, not very human-like faces, etc.).

    No I meant this game.

Why? So you don't have to feel bad about wanting to smash into people and having fun doing it? Whatever helps you sleep at night I guess...

Well, I know I am a sane person and that I won't ever do something like that in real life, but I can't say that about anyone else who will play the game...

Besides that, I think dummies will look better.
If they'd look like real persons, you'd assume that they're... Well... Real persons and that they'd jump out of the way or something. It'll look a bit silly.
It is a fact that dummies don't move, so it'll look less stupid if you hit one without it trying to dodge you.

Why would anyone lose sleep from wanting to play a game and hit human analogs with a car in that game?

No, I mean not in this game.

    For non-M ratings.

    What are you on about?

Also, I don't think the ESRB or PEGI ratings really apply to BeamNG. Why would they need to apply for ratings?

    This made me lol :p

I don't know much about the different rating systems, but I think I agree with Ltp0wer.
I'm not sure about how it would affect the game if it did/did not have a rating.

I don't know bullshit (you get it? Dr.Bullshit, bullshit.) about ratings and such.
But I think those ratings only apply to games that are being sold in massive numbers or for bigger game-developpers...
I would've googled it if I wasn't on my useless cellphone.

The point was he wanted to smash into "dummies" in the game as long as they didn't look too human. My comment about sleeping well was not meant to be taken literally, it's a saying, like "to each their own". If having the "dummies" look less human is more enjoyable for you, fine.

To answer your question directly though I can understand how someone might feel uncomfortable getting enjoyment from hitting crowds of realistic looking people in a game for the same reasons I can understand how playing a FPS that allows you to be a gunman in a school full of children may be less appealing then a gunman in a town full of zombies. You like shooting things as long as it's not too real, whatever helps you sleep at night.

This would be quite interesting to see BeamNG use this a a feature it would multiply the realism effect.
