we're not in 2006 anymore, beamng actively supports mods and they don't need to change code to work. They're just additional content made by 3rd parties. otherwise every single mod ever made for beamng would no longer be called mods. as I said, get over the fact that you are wrong.

It doesn't matter whatsoever. Honestly I'd rather argue if water is wet at this point.

I can also make a map in the gamefolder and the game will think its vanilla. (did work in 0.16)
You can make the same map VANILLA like the DEVS with THEIR EDITOR.

So please, stop your framing game!

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mod_(video_games)#Add-on
As you can see, most of beamng's mods are add-ons, which are mods.

Plus clueless eh. Apparently he knows more about modding than you do.
    --- Post updated ---
I'd like to point out: all approved mods on the official site are add-ons. Mod files that overwrite or edit vanilla files are not allowed to be on the official site (there are some on the forums, I believe) as they are prone to breaking the game with updates.

What do you think mod means? It literally means to change. The short version of the word modification. They change how the game is played. Playing in a map of water only might change how it is played.

And I'm taking the bait. What mods did you make?

I know a example that ruins this entire thing. Euro Truck Simulator 2 is a "finished" product since 2013, and it gets updated at the same pace Beam does. Also, a lot of updates broke all mods and required them to be remade basically from the ground up (FMOD implantation, for example, that disabled the previous sound system), also some graphics updates that broke models, textures, and so on. The only difference, is that ETS2 players have the option to play in ANY version they want (You can go back to de 1.1.1 and play with the Valiant, Dav, Ivedo and Majestic trucks, and in the same day, play on the 1.40 with the 2022 Daf XF).
That status of "finished" is only obtainable in "dead" games, like GTA SA. Any game heavilly based on mods will have the broken mod problem until the game stops being updated.

If this is the case, then 99% of all mods for this game aren't allowed to be called mods, and only the terrible lazily made meshslaps that replace official vehicles deserve to be called mods. What the heck???

    I agree!
This hole thing startet with "Minecraft" which was finished.....and then Alpha again and too this day millions of Mods are broken, The majority of the Mod Community has left. You can play an older version of the game with your favourite mod, but the problem is that there are too much versions of the game = CHAOS.
Finished "Dead Games" tag is a GenerationZ problem, which is sad.
There are no Dead Games only Finished or Not Finished.

Look at the Doom Modding Community....A "Dead" Game.
If a game is popular, the community helps to keep it up to date.

Yeah, for example assetto corsa got a complete revamp with CSP, but in that case the community is keeping the game up-to-date, but since there is no support from the developers it is still officially a dead game.

Cry about it lol, level editor in any other game takes a lot less effort and time to build a proper map, thats why beamng maps are considered mods not whatever you want to call them
