I was going to answer both of those, but the draft decided to oof itself. Basically my life is intrusive, and in past I've had real mental struggles. DMB, you might already know that? It's worth remembering the Phoenix is constantly being worked on alongside, for preparing new JBeams and LUAs to use on this car. The amount of clean-slates I've done are to do with my state of mind, being reminded of my old work makes me depressed, and that gets neither me, nor this car, anywhere. I can say this is further in its WIP than any attempt has been yet, I hope to keep that up I scanned the door openings, and I'm now modelling the basic body structure of the car, modelling inwards. It's a fairly big step. Once I have the bodyshell, it's going in-game for JBeam development, which there'll be a lot of, so don't get your calendars out yet, that's gonna take a fair while. Anyway, here's where I'm at. It's nice to see enthusiasm for this mod, too. Helps lift my spirits. I don't want to get people too excited in case things go wrong, but I'm happy to see people have positive opinions of what I'm doing. I'll try my best to keep things going, but progress as of Monday will get much slower I'm afraid.
Nice work, atomspeed! I love old American SUV/ my favourite are: Grand Cherokee ZJ/WJ or Cherokee XJ or Tahoe/Suburban/Escalade/Escalade ESV/Yukov GMT(800-840), so i can't wait to try this!
How are you? I have a 1998 Jeep Cherokee XJ 2 doors and I don't mind helping you about everything I'm sorry, my English is not good My Discord : Bo7_#9925 I congratulate you on your creativity
Some of you might find this a disappointment. Others won't be surprised. Basically. The real XJ has always been my dad's car. It will continue to be his car. My relations with him are...absolutely not great right now. Not at all because of this mod either. But, I can't see myself touching its .blend file any time soon. So. I can only apologise but this mod is properly halted until further notice. Please don't come PMing and DMing me about it, my mind can't be changed. Even if I had the will to make this car I wouldn't be able to make it because my school work leaves no time for it either, like I've said before. I'd like to see the people who were involved with this car's creation, Cacline72, byterace, capkirk, 16-BIT and etc to continue embracing this Jeep for what it is, it's a mod that deserves to exist but unfortunately I'm not the person to make that happen right now. There are two things you can expect me to make threads about, maybe. One is my 1952 Raleigh bicycle which would help my state of mind, because it's quite fun. The other is a 1960 Austin A40 'Farina' which some of you might already know about, but that'll obviously be made extremely slowly. Both of them would be as a matter of fact. I'd like to hear who would actually care about either of those vehicles, the bicycle is a niche idea but the A40 is a very unloved car, to be completely honest I'd be making both as a means to make me feel happier. But I'd like to share them if they ever do get made. Now, DO NOT BUMP THIS THREAD. I repeat DO NOT bump this thread. This thing is getting put in a locked drawer (that's a metaphor) and to be honest I'd rather not think about it. Sorry.
So are you bringing the project back if you are I could assist you in the 3d modeling and or 3D scan data
I can't comment on that yet, the progress is currently private. Unless anyone else asks other relevant questions, my next post is going to detail a proper update on the mod's situation.
Oh god I’m so sorry. Edit: if I offended or attacked anyone with my posts (which are now deleted), feel free to ban me from the forums.
The car actually is WIP again, I'm waiting for large enough progress to be made before posting an update about it. Sorry for the wait! The reason why it's taking so long is that the car is as follows. The entire car is being made using 3D scans of real Jeeps, not just my dad's one any more. There are just over a dozen owners now helping me out with their own cars, some of which have several parts and components removed from different vehicles. Currently, there isn't really an area of the car that I don't yet have a scan of, and to be honest, at the time of writing, I'm almost finished with aligning the major ones up. What I mean by that is, for example, one generous owner had his interior completely stripped recently, and decided to capture his interior floorpan in a photo scan, from the dashboard to where the rear seats are. Meanwhile, I used the Kinect to scan the floor and chassis from underneath the Orvis. Because the detail of these scans is fairly high, and the end product of the mod is supposed to represent the car as closely as possible, it takes time to get them properly aligned in order to make parts dimensionally accurate. To name a few, I also have a complete empty engine bay, an entire pre-96 2-door Limited's exterior and a 4.0 engine on an engine stand. Currently, team work is definitely making the dream work. Hopefully, it's not long until I can show you what I'm on about. If I get there (which I hope I do), you'll see what I mean .
Great! Looking forward to seeing some progress (I don’t mean to pressure you or anything). Best of luck! Hope things worked out okay between you and your father.
