You missing a part of it, he doesn't allow for his DeLorean mod to be modified in any way even from the simplest things like skins, engine related, bodykits, etc. They are not bashing on him for that bttf items, they are bashing on the fact that nobody can modify the delorean if they wanted to and this:

I'm sure if Lucas believed you were capable of making something of decent enough quality that it wasn't "butchering" his mod, and you actually asked him politely, he would probably allow it.
(unfortunately, giving any such lenience leads every 12-year-old, who you specifically didn't want, thinking that every asset in the mod is free to use for whatever they please.)

Well, that person who gave the ice cream away didn't make it. They didn't source it from a farm. They didn't make the milk.
Lucas made the body of the DeLorean from scratch. That is a lot of hard work. Comparing it to the ice cream scenario is ridiculous.

Except you can make infinite copies of a mod. Someone who makes and sells pottery has the right to be angry when somebody smashes their fanciest vase. They don’t really need to be angry if they have an infinite number of identical vases for sale.

it's clearly not the Zephyr, the Zephyr is a sedan/wagon while this is just a 200BX with a different front made by LJ
I think it was made by LJ, feel free to correct me if it wasn't

ahh, except that wasn't my words, rather, it was quoted. if you want a fairer comparison: its like building a house from scratch and then telling the person who bought the house that they can't add their own furniture or decorations in said house because the builder of the house likes how they made the house

also, lucas probably has sourced the front, side, rear, top, etc. images to make the DeLorean from scratch

Point is I don't want people hacking up my stuff that I explicitly asked not to mess with. In this case I'm mostly angry because some dude decided it was a good idea to make the back to the future model work badly and brag about it here. If someone wants to mod the delorean I'd be more than happy to let them do it if they have decent skills and a great idea. meshslapping my BTTF parts with no texture doesn't include any of those terms.

Also my mod is free so you have no say in what I can allow or not. I think I made my point now, but feel free to find another way to "prove me wrong".

 

that's my point, the bttf parts, yeah they shouldn't be using your assets for it. but anyone should be allowed to mod the delorean regardless of permissions but your mod, your rules, at least better than not being allowed to mod it. btw, i having some bugs with the delorean, even in safe mode with the cache cleared:
