Some Features of Custom Cars Not Saving

I have an odd problem that doesn't seem to have a solution online. I like to customize my in-game cars, including the colors, and when I do, occasionally the new color I have chosen will not appear on the car when I select it for play. EDIT: and recently other customized features are being lost.

For example, if I choose a Hirochi Sunburst, paint it red, and save the new custom car, it will appear in the garage in the correct color, but it will appear in the game as yellow. It only happens to certain individual cars, and happens every time to that particular car. So far, it seems to happen to red, orange, and purple cars, but it might not be related to the color itself. If I recolor the car red and save it again, it will again appear in the same incorrect color. I think it is the colors of the default display car in the model selection screen (e.g. yellow for Sunburst).

Tonight, for the first time (I have been playing for two weeks), some of the other changes to my car did not save. Last night, the only thing that didn't save to my newly customized Rally Sunburst was it's coloring. All other custom features saved. Tonight it loaded with almost none of its custom features. It's a virtually stock 1.8 in yellow with a sunroof (which I didn't have in my custom). It saved only my wheels (in the wrong color).

Does anyone know why this is happening or how to prevent it?

I would love to see those threads. I searched before I posted my two threads but didn't find them with the keywords I was using. I'd like to know which colors I should avoid.

Mine are following no pattern. I have cars that have the exact same coloring (the ones in my avatar) where some cars remain unchanged and the others show up either recolored or replaced with one of the stock cars.

Can you tell me how to manually edit the file/what things to fix? It always pisses me off after doing a shit ton of customizations on an offroad build just for it to corrupt and give me a default blue d-series.

I might be able to utilize that guide. I have computer programing and HTML experience, and I'd be willing to give it a try.
