having issues with my 2 year old gaming laptop (Lenovo Ideapad L340)

Hi! so i was playing beamng in peace and suddenly, i get very low fps in a 2 year old gaming laptop, any ideas what to do?

 

probably thermal throttling.
try putting the PC in a freezer, you'll probably get higher FPS.

 

really? does putting your laptop in a freezer will work?

 

well it's probably overheating, so yeah.

Don't do it!.

Putting your laptop in a freezer will cause condensation, electronics and moisture is not a good combination.
You should find out why your laptop is slowing down, start with downloading software like HWMonitor so that you can keep track of the temps and see which and if components is overheating.

If it's hardware related it might be as easy as cleaning out fans and heatsinks, there might be necessary to change thermal compound and thermal pads.

 

uhm, i wish i needed a gaming rig but i will get rid of my 2 year old potato gaming crap
