How is the progress going. Will the rear doors be able to open. Like some of the cars in beaming. --- Post updated --- Correction beamng
Several people are working on it so they won't give up probably. But the update ruining it is very likely.
i wouldn't be too sure about that, sithhy and atv seem to be in on whatever the new update's content is...
Just checking in on the mod creators. How are you guys doing? I assume we haven’t had that much work done on it for the same reasons it’s on hold but yeah. --- Post updated --- Also, BTW Multiple people have been working on this mod for years on end, about 4 and a half at thirst point. I I highly doubt that they are even thinking about giving up on it.
The mod has been on hold for a few months now. Progress has been very slow due to things happening in the devs lives right now. If they have any progress to show, it likely won’t be very much.
Y'all deserve some answers, so I'll do my best to provide some. It is planned to use the new feature where you can select the little box's to open or close doors (I think they are called triggers?) We do have some information about new updates... but oddly more content wise than anything (no, I am not spilling the beans... if the Beam team talks about it, then I will... but I'm not gonna be the guy that ruins their fun). There is a feature coming that I am aware of, but at best I will have to do nothing... worst I might have to rewrite... ehhh... 4 files? Out of like 100? I'll take it. Granted, even in direct contact, the Beam team does hold their cards pretty tightly to their chest so I am positive that I don't know everything that's coming. That being said though, the B1 has been known to be pretty resilient. Only 1 singular update ever broke it, and it turned out to be a spelling error by me that before the update the game just kinda skipped over on the one part... after, it threw an error. Fixed that mistake and we were back in business. We are doing alright. Sithhy is mostly suffering from burnout while I have been being worked like a slave at my main job, trying to start a side gig as after covid and all the price hikes I almost can't afford to live off my salary anymore, trying to redo the entire interior of my house (by myself) as its much worse than I thought when I bought it, and trying to get my winter car finished before the snow flies. I too have partially suffered from burnout but mostly just because life has been insane as of late. So... now that is out of the way... What's going on? What's gonna happen? How far along are we? Where are we going? So... To get this thing out sooner rather than later, plus going off of many suggestions, we are going to attempt to pull back the initial scope of the full mod to start with. Think of this as Stage 1. This will be the main/stock truck, all body variants, all engine and transmission variants, some minor after market parts, some driveline bits, some suspension bits, and that's it. Why? Because most of this is actually already done, I just have to hyper focus on it and get everything up to par in terms of file setup, organization, and all that fun stuff. Luckily we now have several people instructing me on the proper rules to follow to get everything exactly as they should be if it were a standard, in game, dev quality vehicle. That way they just get me up to par, and then I already have all the files memorized (you don't just make a mod for 4 years and not end up like that) so I just go in where mistakes are and fix them. Stage 2 - more aftermarket bits, offroad parts, street parts, air ride, modern interior, some silly parts, high hp parts (like the much higher HP stuff) Stage 3 - This is the full on crazy or the experimental stuff. If it didn't make it into stage 2, then it ends up here. This is probably where the tracks will end up if I can ever properly get them working. Progress has been made, but they stull aren't supper great... they aren't to the quality that I would expect out of a mod, much less a full blown dev quality piece... granted, as I stated before, if I can get them working the way I truly wish, then they will actually branch off into their own thing. This is also for BIG modifications... things that DRASTICALLY change how the truck operates, looks, functions... you get the idea... Why do this. At the moment, there are so many parts (not as many as some mods out there, but I have decided that those guys just work on their mods all day long somehow) that it is getting to the point that it is discouraging to work on as there are so many fully unique parts that I am attempting to keep the quality up as high as possible. Its easy to get lost in the files, discouraged, and just lose motivation because the scope has evolved to be so large. By braking it up some, we now can focus on the main truck and finally get that launched. That will be very encouraging which will help propel us to finish up the rest of the stage 2 stuff. Then once that is done, I can get the full on crazy stuff done for stage 3. So that's a progress update. I literally just made this decision now as I sit here writing this... but its necessary to get this thing done. We wanted to launch it all in one huge launch so the impact would be greater... but at this point we can see that its just not realistic with the way that real life is going. Now that doesn't mean that this thing will be launched in the next week or something like that... but what will happen is that this means that at least for Stage 1, it will come out MUCH sooner than before. After some discussion with everyone on the team, I will come back and update with exactly what all will be in Stage 1.
I am intrigued about what the beam team is planning. Regarding the burnout situation, make sure to prioritize your mental health above all else.
This is not called giving up, it's splitting the mod into several updates instead of 1 huge thing, in order to get a playable version out sooner. So something I wanted to do with the Maluch but I didn't get any response about permission.
