Hello, i am asking this because i am currently trying to find an upgrade to my gpu, and I currently have two options, either amd radeon 580 rog strix, or a gtx 1650 super, Im more leaning into the amd territory, since amd has 8gb of video memory, but i want to see which one works better in beamng.

the amd option is better, but as some threads have said, amd gpu optimization isnt the best in games as they usually favour nvidia hardware.

as for a new gpu, i would suggest a 1660, 1660ti, or 1660 super, since the 1650 super isnt that much better than a 1050ti..
and that the 1660 has 6gb of vram, which should be enough for most newer titles

If I’m not mistaken BeamNG has poor optimisation on AMD GPUs, making it considerably harder to run than with an Nvidia equilalent
Check this thread to get an idea

So it depends, but if BeamNG is your principal game you better get an Nvidia card for now

yeah, i'd pick a 1660, but its way out of my budget (10k hrivnya, around 300 usd, and the cheapest 1660 i could find was twice that amount) so my only decent options are the 1650 super or that amd card, so I really dont have a choice

oof. Then yeah, get the 1650, since almost all games are nvidia gpu biased, amd gpus are a not exactly the greatest in terms of optimizations and stuff

how can a 1660 not run beam well?
my guess is thermals. a 1660ti should give an easy 55+Fps imo in medium settings at 1080p

use ultra settings, since its somehow better optimized.
and turn off vsync and framelimiters

well, my Sapphire Vega 64 on my desktop can run Beam at over 60 FPS, but because of my hardware causing a frame cap anyways, I have the refresh rate limited at 60hz.

AMD Freesync is completely different to a framelimiter. Freesync is an AMD program that minimises, if not completely eliminates screen tearing. Basically the same thing as Vsync. If you have issues with screen tearing, try turning on vsync then.
