Right then, I thought it was time to create a thread for my first full, brand new car for BeamNG, the Procyon Centauri! ——————————————— Please make sure to read through the thread before making a post to avoid repetition. Your question/request may have already been answered. Here’s some general info about the car; -Procyon is a luxury sub-brand of Hirochi, mimicking Lexus, and starting in 1988. -The name is Centauri, coming from a previous idea of it being called Procyon Alpha, and relating to the star system Alpha Centauri. -The shaping, styling and size are based on the 2022 models of the Lexus LX600 and Toyota Land Cruiser. -The interior is mostly inspired by the Toyota Land Cruiser, but has mostly custom design and features. It has 2 active screens (gauge cluster and infotainment) and 4 visual screens (2x climate personalisation, 2x back-of-seat entertainment). It has a third row, parcel shelf and optional captains’ chairs for the luxury model. …and the technical stuff: Price range: £72k-124k Engines: - Petrol (3.5) and Diesel (3.3) Twin-Turbocharged V6, Petrol 4.4 V8 - Petrol Twin-Turbocharged 5.0 V8 Years: 2022-27 Layout: Front engined, 4WD Transmissions: - 10-speed auto (Petrol V6) - 8-speed auto (Diesel V6 and V8) Trim levels: lots Internal code: Q215 —————————————————————— Here’s my progress, helped along the way a lot by @Nacho Problem I started off with a plane… …and land cruiser GR sport blueprints. Then modelled a vague front. Which was apparently the completely wrong approach so I restarted with massive help from Nacho, who was mentioned earlier, with a plane at the roof going down to the a-pillar and so on. Much less vague and more intuitive, with more thought for polyflow. The roof… …the fender… …the window perimeter, doors, rear quarter flares, rear quarter… …more polyflow edits, work on the rear, front windscreen, b/c pillars, and a silver window border. Oh yeah and colouring. Side glass… Which is where I stopped relying on the land cruiser so much, and went onto some frontal styling Theo designed: (old brand name was used since it was done when the brand was still called that) …which had it’s headlights edited by me: …based on the LX and CCF2. Frontal modelling: Blank shell… …front fascia on… …with the lower section of grille. Headlight proportions tweaked, as per request of Theo’s Discord server, as it apparently looked like a Honda Accord and didn’t suit having such a downward tilt. And a vague sketch of the side intakes… …which @LJ74 suggested to match up a little better to the chrome grille/headlight trim. here’s the polyflow at this point: and more general progress on the car, with tidy-ups helped by nacho and some small tweaks by me. Onto the rear (which I didn’t take many pics of for some reason): Shaping for the boot, general light area and rear bumper… …rear diffuser …and how the boot will open. A start to the rear lights, looking quite bland but are getting heavily edited. …and with some more tweaks to the model, we’re at today, with an almost finished body model. —————————————————————- This is all after about 4 days of work on it, and let’s hope it’s gonna go further! Just note this is only my second time modelling a full car and first time making this much for any BeamNG mod, with new JBeam and more planned, so please don’t be too harsh or expect too much from me. I’m still learning, and I’m only human! Hope to see you guys on the thread! [/user] More progress on post #71
this is great! also now everyone believes its your model if someone would think smth else lol excited to see this in game!
Awesome job so far! Can’t wait to see the details you add. And I’ll include plenty of nagging to do things along the way
I find it oddly interesting when people relate the designs I make to every car but the ones I actually looked at lol
Looking good man! 2 mods at once but I'm sure you can execute it looking at how quickly the CCF2 has progressed. Also, some sort of old British car would be cool one day. Feel like they're underrated Edit: Not the CCF2, wrong guy
I hope we can make this one of the best new mods to come out ^^ Really proud of the progress you have made so far
Yep, sorry about that mate. The start of this thread looked similarly set up and the same last name of course. Silly me
i have a small suggestion, since this is gonna be proportionally based off of the LC300 chassis, (front longitudinally mounted engine with 4WD) use a 10 speed auto and a 5 or 6 speed manual.
This game has deffinetly lacked scratch made stuff, and less god awful meshslaps on the forums, so to see this taking shape is pretty sick. Keep up the good work.
I think it sounds nice if its named as the Zeitaku Nebula, ooh i also got an idea. What if theres a starlight headliner which are found on Rolls Royce vehicles and sold them as "Celestial Package"?
Finally a sort of Australian car. The Land Cruiser is an aussie icon, and the first models were imported here, with the bodies changed, made by Australians for the Snowy Hydro project. Hopefully we see a 4WD set up kit!
