Hell-o. I've found that we lack a thread in which we can suggest all the smaller "life comfort" stuff that make your BeamNG experience nicer instead of constant barrages of car & map suggestion threads that drown everything else, so here we are. If you don't know what "Quality of Life" means in context of videos games, here's a a snippet from medium.com What QoL suggestions do you have that devs could actually implement to make our time & experience of playing BeamNG even nicer?
Handbrake disengaging automatically after the AI was stopped using the stop behavior in radial menu. Right now when you stop it, the handbrake will be engaged after you switch to that vehicle and want to drive it. It's not the most intuitive thing ever and I accidentally tried to drive with handbrake on many times in situations like this because I keep forgetting to disengage it.
A strange one, but maybe an automated "generate cache" option when loading from a new installation that generates the caches for all cars and levels in a single long process.
A button to start a fire from the engine and slowly makes it's way to the full car, we only have a button for a full fire and a explosion fire. It would make it a bit more realistic after a crash.
doesn't even have to be a UI overhaul, just an UI speedup would make the game 10x less painful to navigate
seperated sirens and lights, as a (now voluntary) Ambulance driver, driving a Emergency services car ingame makes me cringe
Emergency vehicles in general need an overhaul with radios, siren controls, and dividers for some vehicles. Some vehicles also have very inaccurate lighting systems (namely LED lights on older police cars) and the "generic" light bar should probably have rotors instead of just alternating.
That would actually probably mean a UI overhaul though since the UI really can't get any faster than it currently is with the framework its using to render it (CEF). And so that would mean using a completely different framework/API like one optimized for games rather than one for internet browsers lol.
And here's a few suggestions I got: GPS to navigate you to some location Being able to add your own spawnpoints/teleport points in a map + being able to teleport to them in game Parts preview screen to show what the hundreds of wheels look like before putting them on lol Functional mirrors
Complete and thorough overall of road signs on most maps. Many maps are missing them completely, or have them very inconsistent.
You can use free camera, then F7 to teleport your vehicle to any place you want Dynamic reflections can make functional mirrors. But it's extremely laggy, so yeah we need fps friendly functional mirrors
But on really large maps like Italy for example its kind of a pain to fly over to parts of the map. The dynamic reflections mirrors don't allow you to see the body of the car like how it works in real life to estimate your vehicle position relative to an object. Also they've got some weird perspective issues:
Overhaul the UI. The current one is so slow is painful to use and kinda clunky in my opinion. Other than that, I can say I agree with most of the stuff here. An official "click to enter vehicle" would be pretty sweet.
