I played around a bit with the input script and I think I managed to improve keyboard steering quite a bit.

All this script does is it basically makes the keyboard behave like in any other racing game. The faster you go the smaller your steering lock becomes. Additionally it takes oversteering into account so that you still have the full steering range to counter-steer while drifting at high speeds.

As a result of this I was able to control the 390GTR Bolide on the Black Hills map at 200+ km/h :)

    Installation is pretty easy:

    • Go to <BeamNG_Folder>\lua\vehicle
    • backup or simply rename "input.lua"
    • put the attached input.lua into the folder

Now you may start the game and enjoy! (If you are already ingame simply using ctrl+r works as well)

If you want to fine-tune the steering behaviour you can find a set of variables at the top of the lua file that you can play with.

Ill be putting this in my game soon. Ill let you know how i think it works, but for now i really like the idea. Thank you sir.

    *edit*
Ive played with it for a little while, with most of the vehicles on most of the maps, and it definitely makes handling at speed significantly smoother. I think this was a huge thing that the game needed, and is now definitely improved by it

This is one of the best mods I have seen. It lets me enjoy the game fully without having to spend $50 on a wheel :p. Thanks a bunch!

I'm not dissing the mod or anything, it looks great, but to all you keyboard users: a 20 something dollar wired xbox controller is a huge step up from a keyboard. You don't even have to download input maps or anything. Just plug it in and play. I recommend it if you don't want to spend a bunch of money on a wheel.

Looks like something went wrong with the installation. Please double check that the input.lua exists in the specified folder.

If you just want to remove the mod run the updater or if you installed the game via steam right click it in your game library, go to properties and look for an option called "verify game cache".

    Hope this helps :)

Wow it seems that the mod Lowers the amount of power Input when cornering at high speed (Just my guess) Basically Better Traction control
Really helps With cornering cars Good job dude

Actually it should work for keyboard only atm. However it's easy to make it work for gamepads as well if you like.
