I'll be honest, I went straight to the engine jbeam and only looked through that, didn't see any comment in there RE:the change. But since you've just mentioned it, I've seen the turbo exhaust jbeam.

 

The only cars with what turbo without exhaust I guess is modern cars

Bumping official topic about official car in the game is forbidden? Then what do you think people should do? Create new topic in General discussion? Wait until someone from devs will bump it first? Pray?

I'm aware this is technically a "bump", but since it's an official thread about a game car, it doesn't matter.

So, I've been thinking about how the Piccolina and SBR4 are both similarly-shaped vehicles with flat-four engines in the rear powering the rear (or all, in some SBR4s) wheels. And that got me thinking...

What if the SBR4's heritage traces back to the Piccolina?

We know that Autobello was founded in 1948, and Japanese car companies like Nissan and Hino (among others) were building European cars under license in the '50s and early '60s. (For Nissan, it was Austins - for Hino, it was Renaults.) The Hino Contessa continued the company's trend of using Renault engines, even though the Contessa was a different car from the Renaults. The second-gen Contessa had a 1300cc L4 - about the same size as the Piccolina 130's engine.

And, of course, there's the Subaru 360 - a little rear-engined kei car that's rather Beetle-esque, and which Hirochi might have built something similar to.

So, maybe, when Hirochi decided to enter the car market, they could have built entire Piccolinas or the Piccolina's drivetrain under license to learn how to build and engineer cars. The drivetrain could certainly work for something like the Subaru 1000 or first-gen Leone, both of which had OHV flat-fours in low-1-liter displacements. A not-first-gen-Leone would be a real nice counter to the Miramar, and it could give us a car-based pickup truck with a not-BRAT/Brumby.

Or maybe Hirochi just snorted an ungodly amount of mystical super-powder and decided "Fuck it, rear-engined flat-four-powered super-fast shooting brake, go!" and I'm looking way too deep into things again.

I'm fine if the above scenario is the case - this was more of a thought experiment and not really meant to be taken seriously, and I learned a couple things from it (like how Prince Motor Company started off making tiny electric cars).

 

Or the company was independently making some rear-engined model that was used as a basis for a sports car - the same way that the VW Karmann Ghia, Alpine A106, Fiat 850 Coupe, Simca Coupe, NSU Sport Prinz, etc. came to be in completely separate ways.

 

Yeah, that's another possibility - and one which could give us a nice, fun little '60s Japanese sports car.
